Purtenance was a Finnish Death Metal band found in Nokia in 1990 (originally with the name "Purtenance Avulsion"). The band recorded one independent and self-titled demo in 1991 with the name "Purtenance Avulsion". At the same year, they got signed to the Spanish Drowned records through which they released "Crown Waits the Immortal" EP '91. The next year band released their first ,and sadly, last full-length "Member of Immortal Damnation"'92. Soon after releasing their full-length, band broke up. This is from their only full-length "Member of Immortal Damnation" of 1992. Formed as Purtenance Avulsion in Finland,1990,changing their name to Purtenance in 1991,they released one demo as Purtenance Avulsion in 1991 before changing name. They got a deal from Drowned Productions and they released "Crown Waits the Immortal" EP in 1991 and their first and last album "Member of Immortal Damnation" in 1992. From the album "Member Of Immortal Damnation" (1992). Name of the instrumental is Lacus Somniorum. I think the 2 songs go very nicely together. "Member of Immortal Damnation" has to be the filthiest sounding full-length death metal album ever! After the first listen, you may think you've just heard a demo, but no, it's actually perfectly produced. All of the instruments are mixed precisely and can be heard perfectly, without any single part overwhelming the other. At the same time it's incredibly raw and filthy. Should appeal to fans of the old school, definitely a strong example here of the old school Finnish death metal sound.
