Iowa Public Radio announces the finalists for the 2012 Wellmark 80/35 Festival Play-In Contest. Over 80 bands from the state of Iowa entered the contest. Eight semifinalists were selected to perform live on Iowa Public Radio between April and May of 2012. Listeners and panelists weighed in to rate the bands on songwriting, musicianship and overall performance. The top three bands will perform at The Gas Lamp (1501 Grand Ave, Des Moines 50309) on Thursday, June 21st. The performances will be broadcast live on Iowa Public Radio. Concert-goers and listeners will again have a chance to rate the bands to determine the winner (who will play on the Main Stage).
