Johnny Horton --Young Abe Lincoln (Make A Tall, Tall Man) 1.97 min. | 4.958042 avaliação | 94639 exibições Counry Singer Johnny Horton singing about who might be the nation's greatest president. Because of too many negative comments, I had no choice to disable the comments. I posted this for people to enjoy the song, not argue over President Lincoln's politics/policies. Johnny Horton had several top ten songs in the late 50's and early 60's and was on the verge of becoming one of the top stars of the 60's when he met with tragedy. He was born John Gale Horton in Los Angeles in 1925. He was raised in Tyler, Texas. Horton worked in the fishing industry in Alaska and California, and attended Seattle University. He worked for a while as a carpenter, and played basketball at Baylor University. He worked at a local radio station in East Texas and at the Hometown Jamboree in California. He did some recording with little success for the Abbott, Mercury, and Dot labels and picked up the nickname the Singing Fisherman. Horton became a regular on the Louisiana Hayride. Johnny married Billie Jean Jones, the widow of country music legend Hank Williams. He sang country songs and signed a recording contract with Columbia, where he would achieve his greatest success. Some of his first hits included Honky Tonk Man, I'm A One-Woman Man in 1956, Coming Home in 1957 and All Grown Up in 1958. He topped the country charts in 1959 with When It's Springtime In Alaska. Johnny Horton then began to record a series of saga songs that crossed over to the pop charts. He covered Jimmy Driftwood's The Battle .... + Informações |

The Atonement - J. Gresham Machen 13.48 min. | 4.3333335 avaliação | 282 exibições J. Gresham Machen www.youtube.com The Atonement - J. Gresham Machen J. Gresham Machen (1881-1937) was the principal figure in the founding of the OPC if for no other reason than that the Presbyterian controversy in which he played a crucial role provided the backdrop for the denomination begun in 1936. A distinguished New Testament scholar at Princeton Seminary from 1906 to 1929, Machen defended the historical reliability of the Bible in such works as The Origin of Paul's Religion (1921) and The Virgin Birth of Christ (1930). He emerged as the chief spokesman for Presbyterian conservatives by issuing a devastating critique of Protestant modernism in the popular books Christianity and Liberalism (1923) and What is Faith? (1925). When the northern Presbyterian church (PCUSA) rejected his arguments during the mid-1920s and decided to reorganize Princeton Seminary to create a moderate school, Machen took the lead in founding Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia (1929) where he taught New Testament until his death. His continued opposition during the 1930s to liberalism in his denomination's foreign missions agencies led to the creation of a new organization, The Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions (1933). The trial, conviction and suspension from the ministry of Independent Board members, including Machen, in 1935 and 1936 provided the rationale for the formation in 1936 of the OPC. Only six months after the new denomination's beginning, Machen died in .... + Informações |

True Value Of Money & it's History 74.05 min. | 3.6666667 avaliação | 646 exibições Go to LarouchePAC for daily news and more... www.larouchepac.com Please donate to: LarouchePAC, so they can make more of such material and circulate it more widely ! They really need your support ! Thank you . We have to get rid of the idea, that money, in any way, represents intrinsic value. Money does not represent intrinsic value. It is not money that determines the value of goods. Money, as we used to do in the United States, especially as Roosevelt emphasized this, is you need a fixed-exchange-rate system, in which, when you loan at 2%, you do not have fluctuations in currency values, which raise the 2% to 4% and 5% and so forth. Therefore, you must have a fixed-exchange-rate system among nations, and you must have, not a monetary system, which is an imperialist system intrinsically, but a credit system. And this was the intention of Franklin Roosevelt, in 1944, before his death. This was changed by Truman, fundamentally. Roosevelt, when he made his proposal, for reconstruction of the world system around a credit system, a fixed-exchange-rate credit system, fought against Keynes! He was an opponent of Keynes. Keynes was a filthy imperialist of the worst type. His type was typified by a book he wrote, in German, published in Berlin in 1937, on his system. And he wrote a preface to it, which is revealing ? in German, also ? saying he had published his first great book in Germany because the conditions in Germany at that time, 1937, were more favorable to his ideas than .... + Informações |

3. Technology and Invention in Finance 74.93 min. | 0 avaliação | 33974 exibições Financial Markets (ECON 252) Technology and innovation underlie finance. In order to manage risks successfully, particularly long-term, we must pool large amounts of risk among many, diverse people and overcome barriers such as moral hazard and erroneous framing. Inventions such as insurance contracts and social security, and information technology all the way from such simple things as paper, and the postal service to modern computers have helped to manage risks and to encourage financial systems to address issues pertaining to risk. The tax and welfare system is one of the most important risk management systems. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Introduction 05:22 - Chapter 2. Introduction to the History of Risk Management 12:31 - Chapter 3. The Mighty HMS HOOD 1918-1941 3.52 min. | 4.7605634 avaliação | 90713 exibições HMS Hood was the pride of the Royal Navy.To all intents, HMS Hood was considered to be one of the most powerful battlecruisers afloat in World War Two. However, the Hood suffered from one major flaw -- she did not have the same amount of armour as the Bismarck. She was one of four Admiral-class battlecruisers ordered in mid-1916 under the Emergency War Programme. Construction of Hood began at the John Brown & Company shipyards in Clydebank, Scotland, on 1 September 1916. She was launched on 22 August 1918 by the widow of Rear-Admiral Sir Horace Hood a great-great-grandson of the famous Lord Hood for whom the ship was named and who was killed while commanding the 3rd Battlecruiser Squadron and flying his flag in HMS Invincible - one of the three battlecruisers which blew-up at the Battle of Jutland. After fitting out and trials, she was commissioned on 15 May 1920, under Captain Wilfred Tomkinson, CB and became flagship of the British Atlantic Fleet's Battle Cruiser Squadron. She had cost £6025000 to build. With her conspicuous twin funnels and lean profile.HMS Hood was widely considered a very graceful warship. On May the 24th 1941, the two titans located each other. At 05.52 AM on the 24th May 1941 Hood opened fire on Bismarck. Two minutes later,DKM Bismarck responded to Hood's gunfire and the Battle of Denmark Strait began. At 06.00, a gigantic explosion with a thunderous flame ripped the Hood into two and Hood dissappeared. In less than ten minutes of battle, Hood was .... + Informações |

The speech that got Andrew Breitbard killed 2.72 min. | 4.7647057 avaliação | 2448 exibições Andrew Breitbart had announced at a CPAC convention that he possessed tapes of a young Obama saying things that would cost him the election. Andrew Breitbart had earlier been involved with a sting operation that led to the leftist organization ACORN losing millions of dollars in federal funding. Breitbart had also announced that he had photos of Congressman Anthony Weiner that Weiner had "sexted" to a woman in Texas. Weiner called Breitbart a liar, but Breitbart eventually leaked the photos ending Congressman Weiner's political career. Franklin Delano Roosevelt once said: "Nothing that happens in politics is a coincidence." Bismarck once wrote, "The mark of a true liberal is an inability to believe in conspiracy." "You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to appreciate the downright weirdness of Breitbart predicting a major event to occur on March 1st, only for him to end up dying on that very date. Breitbart was officially pronounced dead at 12:19am. Although the cause of Breitbart's death was hastily reported to be of natural causes, the Los Angeles County coroner's office have refused to confirm anything until an autopsy has been performed." "According to marketing executive Arthur Sando, Breitbart spent his final hour in a bar near his home called the Brentwood sipping red wine and talking politics. After leaving the bar at around 11:30pm, Breitbart began to walk home before apparently suffering a fatal heart attack. Although it is reported that Breitbart was rushed .... + Informações |

9. Marx's Theory of Alienation 48.07 min. | 0 avaliação | 11390 exibições Foundations of Modern Social Thought (SOCY 151) Marx begins his intellectual life as a Young Hegelian, in the company of Bruno Bauer and others. The Young Hegelians, a radical group of scholars, intended to subject Hegel's theories to critical scrutiny. Eventually, Marx breaks with this tradition altogether by saying that alienation does not come from thoughts and therefore cannot be solved by ideas alone. Alienation comes from material conditions and can only be addressed by changing those conditions. Due to his radical, revolutionary ideas, Marx was forced to move around Europe quite a bit. In his lifetime, he saw his predictions about the uprising of the working classes come to fruition in some places, but he also saw these revolutions fail, including the short-lived Commune in France. Next time, we see how the young Marx who is occupied with Hegelian thought and the concept of alienation transitions to a more mature Marx with the concept of the capitalist mode of production. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Marx's Early Life 07:01 - Chapter 2. The Critical Critic 16:05 - Chapter 3. Marriage and Early Career 27:58 - Chapter 4. The Paris Commune and Its Aftermath 33:33 - Chapter 5.
