No Copyright intended All Rights Go To Respect Owners Full Story: For nearly 18 years, The West Memphis Three have been imprisoned for crimes they didn't commit. The three were condemned by their poverty, incompetent defense, Satanic panic and a rush to judgment by the media. It all began May 5, 1993 when three eight-year-old boys were found mutilated and murdered in the Robin Hood Hills area of West Memphis, Arkansas. Under tremendous pressure to find the killer despite physical evidence pointing to anyone, West Memphis officers coerced an error-filled "confession" from a mentally handicapped teenager, Jessie Misskelley Jr., questioning him for hours without counsel or parental consent, only audio-taping two 46-minute fragments. Jessie recanted his statement the same night but it was too late: Jason Baldwin, Damien Echols and Misskelley all were arrested on June 3rd, and have been incarcerated ever since. Local media said the murders were part of a satanic ritual; human sacrifices in the wooded areas of West Memphis, Arkansas. The police assured the public the three teenagers in custody were definitely responsible for these horrible crimes. There was no physical evidence, murder weapon, motive, or acquaintance with the victims so the State stooped to presenting Damien's black hair and clothing, heavy metal t-shirts, and Stephen King novels as "proof" the children were sacrificed to the devil. In early 1994, Echols was sentenced to death by lethal injection, Baldwin .... + Informações

My loving never stopped a while, It lasted through all times. You're the One, I ever want to love. That is the truth. Though you're far away from me I can't stop loving you. There were times the searing flame Faded to a spark. But when I heard your voice again, It rose to light my dark. You're the One, I ever want to love. That is the truth. They call it taxes, but their wealth get bigger, While poor people starving Or waiting to get sicker because there´s nothing left!! We are called upon to stop their way! Come on! There´s no more word to say! Waiting will be suicide! And Death had lost its fright! We are the waste politics will leave Behind, while their pacifying words deceive: It is a legalized crime! How can you fight gangs when they can be part of the solution to stop urban crime? Here are four men giving their own testimony and ideas about what can be done to fight youth violence. For some, gangs or crews need more repression, incarceration and punishment. But others said this is a matter of engagement, solidarity, education and community work. In reality gangs can be necessary for young kids to survive in the city when they have no family. So if gangs are to be kept -as long as crime is taken away from those groups- how can communities do that? More info: carlosqc.blogspot.com .. + Informações

Despite its coastal beauty and colonial architecture, Nicaragua's oldest city, Granada, is mired in unemployment, poverty and violence. It is the poorest city in Central America where 80% of the population survives on less than $1 per day. The picturesque streets are littered with kids ("chavalos") who have succumbed to crime and drug addiction. The drug of choice due to its affordability and accessibility: glue-sniffing. With no means of receiving an education, learning basic job skills or finding employment, these kids are left with no options and no hope. CAFÉ CHAVALOS: OVERCOMING THE STREETS follows Orlando, Oscar, Juan Carlos and Moises as they attempt to rehabilitate their lives through a program called Café Chavalos -- a culinary school, restaurant and rehab center. In their young lives, they have endured drug use, gang violence, abuse and family suicides, but miraculously found hope through the program. They learn to cook, wait tables and run a business. However, during the course of their own journey, the Café runs into financial problems (funded by a non-profit group), loses their head Chef and is forced to close. How does that affect the boys? Will the café re-open? Can they persevere?. + Informações

www.democracynow.org First Aired: February 26, 2003 'Blood On Their Hands': Acclaimed Journalist John Pilger Explores the Fate of Iraqi Children, and the World Leaders Who Are Responsible A recent edition of the London Mirror showed a picture of British Prime Minister Tony Blair with blood on his hands. The cover read: "Blood on his hands/John Pilger: His Most Damning Verdict of Tony Blair." Pilger is an acclaimed Australian journalist and filmmaker. He begins the article in the Mirror: "William Russell, the great correspondent who reported the carnage of imperial wars, may have first used the expression 'on his hands' to describe impeccable politicians who, at a safe distance, order the mass killing of ordinary people. "In my experience, 'on his hands' applies especially to those modern political leaders who have had no personal experience of war, like George W.Bush, who managed not to serve in Vietnam, and the effete Tony Blair. "There is about them the essential cowardice of the man who causes death and suffering not by his own hand but through a chain of command that affirms his "authority". "In 1946, the judges at Nuremberg who tried the Nazi leaders for war crimes left no doubt about what they regarded as the gravest crimes against humanity. "The most serious was unprovoked invasion of a sovereign state that offered no threat to one's homeland. Then there was the murder of civilians, for which responsibility rested with the "highest authority". "Blair is about to .... + Informações
