BLOCK LETTERS ON 46, GRAVEL GUARD ON REAR FENDER IS CHROME VS. RUBBER, INSIGNIA ON TRUNK LID VS. CADILLAC EMBLEM AND " V " . OTHER THAN THESE, BOTH YEARS ARE THE SAME. BOTH YEAR MODELS POWERED BY A 346 CID, 150 BHP, ENGINE THAT WAS USED IN US TANKS DURING WWII AND WERE STILL PAINTED OLIVE DRAB ON CAR ENGINES. Superflat is a postmodern art movement founded by the artist Takashi Murakami, which is influenced by manga and anime. It is also the name of a 2001 art exhibition, curated by Murakami, that toured West Hollywood, Minneapolis and Seattle. In this short piece, Murakami explains about the SUPERFLAT concept and what he means by that. It has a lot to do with how he sees Japanese society today and how it has evolved since the end of the Pacific war in 1945 with the devastating attacks by the US using atomic weapons. A central influence on the concept of 'Superflat' is the Japanese cartoon culture of manga where enthusiasts are lured into a magical world that is divorced from reality. The insistent two-dimensionality of manga often results in an overall patterning of colors and shapes which provides a parallel space in which to escape from the pressures and expectations of society at large. The nation's railroads were stressed nearly to the limit during World War II and then emerged from the conflict to confront nearly worn-out and aging steam locomotives and a dwindling passenger business. Despite this, it was still a heady period on the high iron. Gene Miller was in the Heartland during this era shooting 16mm movies of this tough transition initially, in and around Evansville, Indiana. Many of our rail action scenes were shot in Evansville where the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railway made an end-to-end connection with the Louisville and Nashville at the L&N passenger depot alongside the Ohio River. The C & EI entered Evansville from the northeast, ran down the middle of Division Street, and jogged over one block to end at the depot which had run-through tracks and a stub-end terminal for Louisville & Nashville trains. The L&N headed west, across Pigeon Creek, where its line to St. Louis split off at a wye at North Howell. ENGINE, AN OFFSPRING FROM CONTINENTAL INDUSTRIAL ENGINES. THESE ENGINES WERE A 226 CID, 115 BHP. TRANNYS WERE 3 SPD. MANUALS WITH NO AUTOMATICS OFFERED TILL '51. THE WHEELBASE IS 123.5 INCHES. THE DESIGN OF THE FRAZER WAS A REFRESHING DESIGN COMPARED TO OTHER CAR PRODUCERS HAVING NO SIDE TRIM TO SPEAK, SLAB SIDES, AND A MODEST GRILL. BY 1949 FRAZER SALES WERE DISAPPOINTING WITH ONLY 10183 BUILT. CONVERTIBLE MODELS ONLY SOLD 70 UNITS AND THE MANHATTAN SEDAN WAS STILL THE MAINSTAY COSTING $ 2595.
