I, DemonStrate, beat Portal for the PC in under 10 minutes. From when I get out of bed, to the time I drop the final personality core into the furnace, the time is 9:25.567. It is the current world record for Portal completion time. Much of the speedrun is sitting in the elevator. I have not calculated yet how much time I waste waiting for the elevators, but I'm sure it is probably a majority of the time. I segmented the speedrun per map. This means when the game says, "Loading...", it is loading a new map, and I save the game and load from there. The only exceptions are Chambers 02 and 13. This speedrun uses a majority of the glitches in the game. Unfortunately, it does not use the acute angle glitch, which might be the most useful glitch in the game, if used correctly. All other glitches are explained in my series of commentary videos here: www.youtube.com This video is not for the weak of heart. It is very fast and very confusing for someone who doesn't understand the glitches used. I would highly recommend watching the videos above. I don't believe anyone else in their right mind would try to do what I have done in this video. Challenge 18 completed using only 8 portals. This is by far my most complicated run ever. No wall-jumping or anything like that was used, though I did put a hat on a turret at one point. This video has a number of small glitches in it, though nothing is ever omitted other than very small details that I simply forgot to activate Fraps for. The only noteworthy omissions are: At 2 minutes, it looks like I loaded a save file and wound up on the platform adjacent to me. I actually just went through the portal at my feet, so just pretend you saw that and everything will be fine. When I'm arranging the turret at the closed door, I cut out a couple minutes of boring object manipulation. You can see the desired end result perfectly well, it just seems kind of sudden when the turret suddenly is upside-down. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! The owner, Cave Johnson, fell ill thanks to his secret production of a Conversion Gel made from Lunar rocks prompting him to produce a three-tiered research program to ensure the longevity of his company. First, The Heimlich Counter-Maneuver. Second, The Take-A-Wish Foundation and third, The Portal Project which included the making of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device. The latter was endlessly funded by the Senate and Johnson went on to... well, die. Fast forward many years later when an AI research assistant known as "Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System" - aka GLaDOS - is activated on the Enrichment Center's first Bring Your Daughter To Work day. After releasing a neuro-toxin, locking everyone inside and taking over the facility, GLaDOS is equipped with a morality core to keep her dickish impulses in line. The morality core is a failure, shock. and thus, the Aperture Test Chambers were created for GLaDOS's enjoyment.
