Trains is a track number 2 of "In Absentia". In Absentia is the seventh studio album by British progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, first released on 24 September 2002. It was their first release on a major record label, Lava Records. It is Metal Storm's number 3 of the Top 20 albums of 2002 and number 49 on the Top 100 albums of all time. This album also marked the arrival of Gavin Harrison, who replaced Chris Maitland as their drummer/percussionist. The album is also their first to have a heavier and more metal feel, through a transition from general psychedelic rock and alternative rock. Porcupine Tree Biography Porcupine Tree is unquestionably one of the most difficult-to-categorize and innovative bands working today. The band is fronted by Steven Wilson, who also is well-known for his work producing other artists, from Swedish progressive metal group Opeth, to Norwegian chanteuse Anja Garbarek. He also has several other projects, including No-Man, Bass Communion, and Blackfield. Porcupine Tree was founded as a self-indulgent creative outlet for Wilson, and the first major release was 'On the Sunday of Life...' in 1992, an album of psychedelia and studio experiments which bears little relation to the band's current sound. From here, Wilson expanded the sound, creating the progressive rock/ambient trance fusion on the 30-minute long single "Voyage 34." One of the only constants in Porcupine Tree's music is how it continues to evolve and confront the expectations of the band's fans from album to album. In late 1993, the solo project became a band, as Colin Edwin (bass), Chris Maitland (drums), and Richard Barbieri (keyboards) were recruited to enable Porcupine Tree to perform live. Richard had previously been a member of one of the most experimental 80's bands, Japan. This remarkable... one-hour trip. Artist: Porcupine Tree Album: Voyage 34: The Complete Trip Tracks: Phase I, Phase II, Phase III, Phase IV Released: June 6, 2000 Lyrics: Phase I This remarkable, sometimes incoherent transcript illustrates a phantasmagoria of fear, terror, grief, exaltation and finally breakdown. Its highlights have been compressed on this recording to make their own disquieting points. The time is 9.30 PM, one hour after the participants have eaten sugar cubes saturated with LSD. We hear Brian and his fellow travellers observing their gradual transformation. Brian's been amusing his friends by chewing on some plastic flashbulbs. Brian's mood is gradually changing. He orders all of his friends into another room and closes the door. He sits alone on the wooden floor, visible only by the dim light shining from the bathroom. He talks to himself. The time is now 1 AM. Brian is unable to snap his fingers and terminate the trip, which continues. He sobs, as his joy turns to fear. Brian's rocky journey ended twelve hours after it so innocently had begun. He was shattered by it. This young man never had a bummer in some thirty-three LSD trips. Every one of them was a delight. Everything under control. He needed only to snap his fingers and down he came, any time. But on Voyage 34 he finally met himself coming down an up-staircase, and the encounter was crushing.
