March 16 2012 PJ Proby was finally found innocent of accusations for benefit fraud. From Worcester News March 17: "After the case, defence solicitor Chris Hilton read a statement on behalf of his client PJ Proby: "I am very happy justice has finally been done. Delilah was originally recorded by PJProby for his 1968 album `Believe It Or Not` which was arranged and produced by Les Reed and les also composed most of the songs. One of the songs recorded for intended use was Delilah , also written by Les. However PJ hated the song thinking it sounded like a German bierkeller song and refused its release. Les tried to persuade PJ of its hit potential but to no avail. Les knew it was a hit in waiting and then offered it Tom Jones. The rest as they say it history.. Les Reed was also musical director on Tom`s later version which is why the musical arrangements are near identical. PJ Proby`s original version remained unreleased in the vaults of EMI for the next 40 years until its eventual release on his 2008 CD The Best of The EMI Years. + Informações

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Liberty 55915) There aren't enough words to describe the stunning performance given by Mr. Proby, The 'Wrecking Crew' and The Blossoms on this magnificent disc recorded in September of 1966 at Sunset Sound Studio in Hollywood. Legendary producer/arranger Jack Nitzsche, created one of his most earth shattering, 'Wall Of Sound' arrangements with this recording of 'I Can't Make It Alone'. While the Carole King and Gerry Goffin penned tune made the rounds with a variety of different artists, this version stands above them all by far. If there was ever a production that emulated the sound of The Righteous Brothers hits with Phil Spector, then this is it. An utterly atmospheric musical experience with dramatic starts, stops, an exploding chorus, quiet sections and a fantastic double tracked vocal by PJ that he takes to the limit in the fade. When the average record at that time was only about two and a half minutes, this one clocking in at a whopping 4:15 seconds even as good as it is, probably never had a chance once DJ's saw the time on the label.. + Informações

Today, Nov 6th 2008, I wish PJ Proby a very happy 70th birthday. Being 15 years in 1965 I was a dedicated fan of PJ Proby; I wore a "PJ Proby-shirt" and bought those buckled shoes and even tried (in vain) to wear a ribbon in my hair! I bought his five first albums and some singles/EPs, which even today are in my possession. Today, in the year of 2008, I am still grateful for the music he gave me the opportunity to listen to in those days. And here´sa song I still love.. + Informações
