Mats Lundgren (Pineforest crunch, Ella rouge) plays the Vako Orchestron with the pipe organ disc inserted. The Vako orchestron is a quite rare (only 50 or so made) optical organ and is a professional version of the beloved Optigan. Mats Lundgren (Ella Rouge, Pineforest Crunch) plays Mellotron Flutes in musical context. TheMellotron is a keyboardinstrument from the 60´s that uses snippets of tape with prerecorded sounds of instruments. The Mellotron was made infamous by The Beatles when they used it´s flute sound for the intro of Strawberry fields forever. The original idea for the instrument was born in California by Harry Chamberlin in the late 40´s. Nowadays it is used by bands such as Oasis, Sparklehorse, Fiona Apple and many others. At the Roth Händle studio there are two Mellotrons #563 and #1517 as well as a Chamberlin tapeloop drum machine. Its been a really busy week at the studio and it doesnt look like its letting up for a while...On Monday and tuesday Ludvig Andersson and Mats Lundgren (of Pineforest Crunch fame) was in the studio doing some treatments and abstract overdubs to their upcoming album. They dont have a band name yet but the album is almost finished so it could turn very interesting very fast. On Wednesday I worked with Andreas Morland working on the track All the time. We swapped Mellotron sounds from the standard Cello to the Gino Vanelli strings and also recorded a sort of ambient Xylophone line using the Tenori-on. This film shows Andreas recording the Elgam 2049 organ. On thursday I did some further editing on the Andreas stuff as well as preparing the Akaba track So Easy for mix. Today (as in Friday) Ill be recording with Fredrik Klingwall. Thisfilm was recorded at Roth Händle studios. The studio is located in Sundbyberg just outside of Stockholm, Sweden.
