The name Calm is an acronym meaning "Creating Aspiring Living Music". During their time as a band they released three EP's: "Calm" (2001), "Ascending to Twenty-Five" (2002) and "In A Place Called Perfect" (2003). In 2004 the band changed their name to The Calm due to legal reasons and were at the time recording their first full length CD called "Narrative". The recording of the CD was nearly finished but was cancelled when the band members Corey Floyd (bass) and Jay Vilardi (guitar) left the band. The remaining members of Calm found a new bass player named Marshall Gibson and a new guitar player named Stephen Bowman and formed Phoenix Mourning. Some of the songs that were supposed to be on "Narrative" were remade by Phoenix Mourning and released on their first and only CD "When Excuses Become Antiques". Info: Seeded Crown was formed in late '97 by friends (guitarist) Pete Joseph and Kerry DeWitt (drummer). The two started writing material and looking for other players: the bass position was filled by another friend and vocals were soon taken care of by Jerry Ruff. Pete had played years earlier with Jerry's brother John and it was coincidence that Pete met Jerry years later at the time Seeded Crown was being formed. Within months the group (then called dropt) was making a name for themselves with their unique sound and playing countless numbers of live shows in and around the Tampa Bay area. Over the next year the band built quite a large fan base and locally released a four song CD and continued to write new material, but internally the band was having problems with their bass player, both musically and personally, so it was decided it would be best if he left the band.
