from the Guardian: www.guardian.co.uk Text from: www.ec.gc.ca Statement by Minister Kent - Foyer of the House of Commons, December 12, 2011 I have just returned from Durban, South Africa, where countries of the world, Canada included, made it clear: We are committed to working together to address climate change in a way that is, for countries big and small, rich or poor, fair, effective and comprehensive and allows us to continue to create jobs and growth in Canada. Canada went to Durban in a spirit of good will. We went committed to being constructive. We went looking to reach an international climate change agreement that covers all major emitters. As we said from the outset, the Kyoto Protocol did not represent the path forward for Canada. The Durban Platform is a way forward that builds on our work at Copenhagen and Cancun. Before this week, the Kyoto Protocol covered less than 30% of global emissions. Now it covers less than 13% -- and that number is only shrinking. The Kyoto Protocol does not cover the world's two largest emitters - the United States and China - and therefore will not work. It is now clear that Kyoto is not the path forward for a global solution to climate change; instead, it is an impediment. We believe that a new agreement, with legally binding commitments for all major emitters, that allows us as a country to continue to generate jobs and economic growth, represents the path forward. Le ministre de l'Environnement annonce le nom de bénéficiaires qui effectueront des recherches sur les changements climatiques Le 25 novembre, le ministre de l'Environnement du Canada, l'honorable Peter Kent, a annoncé la réalisation -- un peu partout en Afrique -- de sept projets qui soutiendront des démarches importantes et novatrices visant à faire en sorte que le continent africain soit mieux à même de composer avec les effets des changements climatiques. L'initiative Centres africains de recherche sur l'adaptation (CARA) est une activité triennale dotée de 10 millions de dollars administrée par le CRDI et financée par le gouvernement du Canada. Elle s'inscrit dans l'engagement pris par ce dernier, en vertu de l'Accord de Copenhague, de contribuer au financement accéléré pour la lutte contre les changements climatiques. Deux des bénéficiaires de l'initiative CARA ont participé à l'annonce, à Ottawa. Saïd Hounkponou, de l'ONG béninoise Initiatives pour un développement intégré durable, était là en personne et Lindiwe Majele Sibanda, du Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Network, s'est adressée à l'assistance en direct de Pretoria, en Afrique du Sud. Die ständig in wechselnder Besetzung auftretende Formation veröffentlichte mit Hör' wieder Radio ihren bekanntesten Titel, mit dem sie in der Vorentscheidung zum Grand Prix Eurovision 1975 einen überraschenden dritten Platz belegten. Mit Thomas Alva Edison, 1976 ebenfalls in der deutschen Auswahl zum Eurovisions-Wettbewerb, gelang ihnen immerhin noch ein Top-50-Erfolg in den Airplay-Charts. Love Generation waren ua mehrmals zu Gast in Ilja Richters Kultsendung Disco. 1979 begann Kents erfolgreiche Solokarriere. Seine Single It's a Real Good Feeling stieg im April 1980 auf Platz 1 der deutschen Hitparade und blieb dort für eine Woche. Insgesamt verkaufte sich die Single 750.000 Mal. Er produzierte ua die Girlgroup ?Optimal" um CC Catch. Weitere Top-20-Erfolge waren You're All I Need (#15, 1980), For Your Love (#19, 1980) und Stop 'n' Go (#13, 1981). In der Folgezeit wurde er Produzent und Lebensgefährte der spanischen Popsängerin Luisa Fernandez. Mit ihr entstanden Hits wie Solo por ti (#18, 1986), Con esperanza oder La luna lila. 1997 trennte sich das Paar wieder. Auch andere Stars wurden von Kent produziert, z. B.
