From the British film O-Kay for Sound (1937) by the time this film was made HMS Emperor of India was no more, except in memory and the sailors caps. HMS Emperor of India was an Iron Duke-class battleship of the British Royal Navy. She was originally to have been named Delhi but was renamed just a month before launching after King George V, who was also Emperor of India. HMS Emperor of India was laid down on 31 May 1912 at Barrow-in-Furness by Vickers; she was launched on 27 November 1913 and commissioned on 10 November 1914. She was decommissioned in 1929 and was sunk as a target ship on 1 September 1931. She was raised the following year and sold for scrap on 6 February 1932. HMCS St. Laurent (H83) was formerly HMS Cygnet (H83) of the Royal Navy's C-class and wore pennant H83 during her service. She was a River-class destroyer that served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1937-1945. HMS Escapade (H17) was an E-class destroyer of the Royal Navy and the first ship with this name. She was launched by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company in 1934 and sank a U-boat in 1940. She had a hedgehog fitted in place of her A gun, and her Y gun was removed to compensate for the additional depth charges she carried aft. She was broken up after the war in 1947.. + Informações

HMV no.B8771. Written in 1895 by Banjo Paterson, the song was first published in 1903. It fast became known as Australias unofficial nation anthem. In 1941 Paterson died, and an American publisher Carl Fischer Music fausely copyrighted the song as an original work. This copyright does not stand in Australia, although the Australian government was forced to pay Fischer for the use of the song after it was performed at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, USA. This is a strange venture for Peter Dawson - with the National Vaudeville Company he retells the sinking of the Troopship, HMS Birkenehad off South Africa in 1852. The ship hit rocks and sank in 25 minutes. The Officer Commanding the 74th Highland Regiment had his men assembled on deck as they watched "women and children first" into the few lifeboats. When the ship's captain then announced "abandon ship", Lieutenant-Colonel Seton told his men to standfast. He realised that they would swamp the boats and all would be lost. Everything was done in silence, manning the chain pumps and launching the lifeboats. They stood to attention sang one verse of !"Oh God our help in ages past" Gave three cheers for the Queen and then waited for the water to envelop them. "I remained on the wreck until she went down; the suction took me down some way, and a man got hold of my leg, but I managed to kick him off and came up and struck out for some pieces of wood that were on the water and started for land, about two miles (3 km) off. I was in the water about five hours, as the shore was so rocky and the surf ran so high that a great many were lost trying to land. Nearly all those that took to the water without their clothes on were taken by sharks; hundreds of them were all round us, and I saw men taken by them close to me, but as I was dressed (having on a flannel shirt and trousers) they preferred the others. A small collection of songs supposedly sung in the Barracks with words by Rudyard Kipling. The first song Fuzzy Wuzzy shows Kipling at his jingoistic best vocalising his xenophobic beliefs. Another the Screw Gun, relates how the British Soldier Tommy beat the crap out of anyone who stood against the Empire. The third song exhorts soldiers to lay down their lives without heed for what is going on around. Something that happened in WW1 and Kipling lost his son in such circumstances.
