Payne's Grey were a very talented and unlucky german prog metal band.They released only two albums: a mini cd called infinity in 1991 (re-released in 2000) and kadath decoded in 1995.Kadath decoded is a concept album based off on the dream quest of unknown kadath by hp lovecraft.The album is outstanding and capture the mood and the atmosphere of the lovecraftian's writings very well.The album is perfectly balanced and very original,sometimes it reminds me some early shadow gallery (there is even a flute player here). Before the sky was dry I put in some distant hills using a mix of Ultramarine and Alizarin Crimson but to be honest it wasn't nearly strong enough and I lost the effect. Before the hills were dry I put in the trees using a stronger mix of Lemon Yellow and Paynes Gray.. + Informações

Blending gray colors from primary colors. ArtRage study. An effective way to mix grey is to mix together red, blue , yellow and white and you will get a whole range of beautiful greys, known as tertiary greys. These are much more subtle than black/white greys, which are cold and lifeless. Greys can be cool, or warm, depending on the proportions of red, yellow and blue mixed (caution - a lot of red will give you browns!) so start with blue when mixing, and add lesser amounts of red and yellow in small increments. There is an infinite number of greys - you will be able to find the right one for you this way! Gray isn't just a mixture of black and white paint. It's a family of warm and cool colors which can be mixed with any color on your palette. How many ways can you think of to mix grays. An entire picture can be painted with warm and cool grays. Velasquez painted masterpieces using browns and grays. Mixtures of grays is a blend of colors mixed with White. Ivory Black mixed with White produces a warm gray. Mixed with Paynes Gray, you'll produce a cool gray. Different proportions of other colors will produce a variety of variations. Experiment with Black to create pleasing grays. Ivory Black mixed with Yellow Ochre may produce a pleasing green gray for that plant you're painting.. + Informações

Our First Coast Plein Air Painter's June 6, 2009 paintout was at the new Peach & Beach Park (geo:lat=30.278771701381338 geo:lon=-81.55258655548095) alongside Anders Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. This is the road that I walked and bicycled to Windy Hill Elementary School in the late 1950s. I used to catch minnows, tadpoles and frogs in this lake as a child, and now it's a PARK! WOW! Today is wet with the possiblilty of more rain, so I am painting under the first pavilion at the park. It was just Rebekkah and I from our group today, but this is a 2-day paintout, so we may have more painters here tomorrow. The park is beautiful, a cool breeze, no bugs, simply a wonderful day to paint. My painting today is an 18x24 stretched canvas (had to tape cardboard on the back early on as the light coming through the canvas was too great). This is acrylic using TITANIUM WHITE, PRUSSIAN BLUE, PAYNES GRAY, CRIMSON, CAD RED, CAD YELLOW, YELLOW OCHRE and BURNT SIENNA. Early on, I mixed a pink from crimson & white that I kept wet with my mister and used that to tint much of the foreground vegetation. I wanted the distant trees and sky to really receed, so it has been wiped with papertowels and a blending brush to soften distant edges. To get more color into it, i added a few small red and some light blue flowers, and enhanced the few ochre trees that were there. The thunderstorm did come just as i was leaving, so I was unable to take the time to shoot pics of the scene I was painting .... + Informações
