The second of my favourite Pablo Cruise songs, from their 1983 "Out Of Our Hands" album. "Another World" has highly meaningful and unforgettable lyrics. A very underrated album, one that went virtually unnoticed, including the great rock guitar solos. The superb guitarist is Stef Birnbaum, also known as Stef Burns. I wrote to him a few years ago enquiring how he obtained his unforgettable sound. He said he couldn't recall exactly, but I think he mentioned he used a Kramer with a Seymour Duncan JB bridge pickup, played thru a Mesa Boogie. (Only a Mesa Boogie can produce this kind of dynamic, fluid, emotional sound.) I had bought the LP in 1984, recorded most of the album in 1986 on my TEAC V-95RX cassette deck to a TDK MA-X metal tape. I then transferred these two favourite numbers from the TDK to an Agfa FeCr III Ferrichrome in the same year. Thus this recording comes from a 24-year old cassette tape. I had always thought that Agfa tapes were of poor quality, but its retention of the superb hifi sound with hardly any oxidation (I have not played it in over two decades) amazes me and changes my opinion completely. Great credit must also be given to Youtube for the superb hifi processing. Another reason why I am one of those who rates analog tape sounds far more highly than empty, digital CD sounds. I've misplaced the TDK, but it's around somewhere. I remember playing "You Might Be Wrong" and "Another World" from the TDK over and over again in my car when driving around at .... + Informações
