OGC (Originoo Gunn Clappaz) are a Hip Hop group consisting of members Jack McNair (aka Starang Wondah) (Gunn Clappa Numba One, also known as Big Will, Hurricane Starang and Strang Da Beast From Da East), Barret Powell (aka Louieville Sluggah) (Gunn Clappa Numba Two, also known as Hennyville Guzzler or Henny), and Dashawn Jamal Yates (aka Top Dog) (Gunn Clappa Numba Three, also known as Big Kahuna and DO). The group is mostly known through their membership in the Boot Camp Clik, along with Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun and Heltah Skeltah.OGC debuted on Smif-N-Wessun's 1995 album Dah Shinin', appearing on the tracks "Sound Bwoy Bureill" and "Cession At Da Doghillee". Later in 1995, they teamed up with Heltah Skeltah to form The Fab 5, and released the single "Leflaur Leflah Eshkoshka," which became a Billboard Hot 100 hit, peaking at #75 on the chart. In October 1996, they released their debut album Da Storm, which went on to sell 250000 in the United States. Two music videos were released from the album, "No Fear", and a dual video for "Hurricane Starang" and "Danjer" titled "Hurricane Danjer". Though the album didn't receive as much attention or as many sales as the other Boot Camp releases, Da Storm received good reviews, and is seen by some as an underground classic. The three released a group album with the Clik in 1997, titled For the People. The album received mediocre reviews, and the Clik's popularity began to decline. Released in 1996 on Duck Down Records. The OGC is a hip hop trio and are members of the Boot Camp Clik. Members include Starang Wondah, Top Dog and Louieville Sluggah. This is their debut album. While it didn't sell as well as the other Boot Camp debuts, Da Storm is still a fairly good listen. The beats are very chill and dark. No real bangers on this album. The whole album has a very cold and sinister mood to it. Despite the wide variety of producers and co producers on here, the songs vary very little from track to track in terms of tone and tempo. They are all moody and laid back. Thunderclaps and rain sound effects are used here and there to enhance the dark, cloudy feel. Due to the lack of variety, the album does tend to loose steam after a while, but does contain several choice songs. A very interesting album that I had to spend some time with to fully appreciate. Even less stand out tracks are good on their own, but loose power in the flow of entire albums worth of the same mood of music. Nothing gets overly violent or boisterous on here.
