The musical opened on Broadway at the Palace Theatre on April 18, 1994 and ran there until September 5, 1999, transferring to the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 11, 1999, with an official opening date of November 16, 1999. The musical closed on July 29, 2007 after 46 previews and 5464 performances, and is Broadway's eighth-longest running production in history (as of August 2011). The production holds the record of being the longest running production at both the Palace Theatre, where it opened, and the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, where it closed its Broadway run. Directed by Robert Jess Roth with choreography by Matt West and assisted by Dan Mojica, the original Broadway cast included Susan Egan as Belle, Terrence Mann as the Beast, Burke Moses as Gaston, Gary Beach as Lumiere and Beth Fowler as Mrs Potts. Avenue Q is a musical in two acts, conceived by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, who wrote the music and lyrics. The book was written by Jeff Whitty and the show was directed by Jason Moore. It is an "autobiographical and biographical" coming-of-age parable, addressing and satirizing the issues and anxieties associated with entering adulthood. The Great Lost Follies Original Cast Album, Part Two. This is reconstructed from two studio recordings and one live. The live is cleaned and remixed from crude stereo. Of the butchered cuts on the OC recording, the Finale ("Live, Laugh, Love") is probably the most butchered and represents most poorly what was on stage (well after "Rain / Paree / Baby"). And to my knowledge the 'nervous breakdown' ending has never been achieved as it was originally here. This is part of the complete project, remaking the lost should-have-been-album from scattered parts. This is the last part I'll post; hoping it will all be issued some day.
