Organic Red worm Composting In Thailand Video - Vermicomposting www.gersonthailand.com 3.75 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1828 exibições Finally got my video for the red worm composting project. You will see two parts to this video. One section of the video covers the red worms compost project, and the other is the traditional pile compost method. Red worm compost- is a mixture of organic sheep/ goat dung organic topsoil vegetable / fruit waste here is a little history and facts about red worm composting -Worm composting (also known as vermicomposting) involves the breakdown of organic wastes via the joint action of worms and microorganisms (although there are often other critters that lend a hand) -Worms can only take small particles in their small mouths. Microorganisms soften the food before worms will eat it. Worms have a muscular gizzard. Small parts of food mixed with some grinding material such as sand, topsoil or limestone is ingested. The contractions from the muscles in the gizzard compress those particles against each other, mix it with fluid, and grind it to smaller pieces. more info visit www.stevenluch.com www.grandpasorganicfarm.com www.gersonthailand.com. + Informações |

My husband has a huge organic garden, and we do not have room to can the veggies and fruits. The dogs eat the veggies and fruits too!We need feeding stations for the critters, table to eat at for us,bigger stove and freezer and storage for canning pots, frozen veggies and fruits, and canning jars.A place for the monthly 200# of dog food,35# cat food,80# litter, bulk papertowels, smaller appliances, and extra cabinet space would help too. I will be posting pics and vids of the critters and the garden later today and probably the rest of this week. PLEASE like and vote for us so we can keep all our critters happy, and have enough fruit and veggies put up to last us until next summer. Did I mention that the garden is all organic? And husband is putting in water barrel system and greenhouse to conserve both energy and water, plus he has a compost pile. We try hard to reduce, reuse, and recycle, just like most folks do nowadays, but even with all that, the greenbacks sometimes fall short of what all us regular folks need to live a somewhat .... + Informações |

Artichoke Advice HEADS UP! 1.20 min. | 0 avaliação | 40 exibições When you grow, purchase, or are given Artichokes be sure to clean and check for critters before trimming and cooking. Our Artichokes are Organic grown yet come with Pros & Cons. Here are some Tips: 1. Soak Choke in cold water, covering completely for at least ten minutes 2. Next, dunk choke up and down, holding by stem or bottom with tip pointed down in water roughly to detach unwanted guest (meat) 3. Lay Chokes out in dry sink area to drain and see if any critters crawl out (be prepared to flush intruder down drain or capture and remove) 4. Carefully bend or pull back bottom leaves - peek - and remove the leaves 5. If you prefer the snail 'escargot' leave them inside the leaves Note: The tiny snails may not crawl out on their own is why you peek before removing bottom leaves. Also, a couple years ago a spider came out of a Choke that looked very much like a Brown Recluse and it was undetermined. SO CAREFUL not PARANOID :). + Informações |

DIY Worm Farm/Bin - Edwin's HardCorps Peace! 6.87 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 560 exibições Do It Yourself worm farm, pretty self explanatory. My buddy Nelson and I traveled one hour deep into rural costa rica, where the dirt roads stay muddy and sometimes get mixed up with poorly irrigated sewage systems and farm animal excrement. The mission was to find someone in la Rincon de la Cruz who the Minesterio de Agricultura (MAG) said had californian red wiggler worms. These worms are used for making organic compost, something that I've always been interested in doing. School's been out for the last 2 weeks, so I had a lot of time to finally get my hands on some of these critters!! Plus, my students and I are starting an organic farm within the high school's property, so starting a worm cultivation has always been high on the priority list. We arrived to a beautiful farm where the worms were. The property extended beyond the eyes' reach over vast plains and forested hillsides. The person that the MAG told us about wasn't there, but his wife was and she was very kind in showing us around the farm. They had beds and beds of these worms, and even had an biodigester that they used to produce gas and fertilizer. Excellent! For some reason these folks were reluctant to give me some worms. I offered them money and they still came up with weird excuses. I say "they" and "them", but the truth is that the husband was the one calling the shots, giving the wife orders over the phone who in turn relayed them back to me... typical. Anyways, the wife, without the husband's consent .... + Informações |

Repelling Nuisance Animals: Because They're not Just in Your Garden 0.95 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 5640 exibições www.havahart.com When you work hard to nurture your landscaping, trees and gardens, it can be frustrating to have a wild animal ruin your work. Animals also cause problems with birdfeeders and trashcans, leaving terrible messes behind. What critter is causing havoc in your garden? Is it a squirrel, raccoon, rabbit, cat or deer? One thing you can do is use a repellent that smells terrible and burns the critter's mouth and feet. Using animal repellents such as Havahart®'s natural Critter Ridder® keeps them out of your precious areas through taste, scent and touch. One of the active ingredients in Critter Ridder® is Capsaicin, which is a hot pepper extract and burns if it is touched, smelled or tasted. Send nuisance animals a message, loud and clear --Stay Away! No matter what critter problem you're experiencing, find a product which uses Capsaicin. It's stingy and spicy enough to repel all sorts of animals! Because Critter Ridder® comes in different forms, such as a liquid spray, so you can put it on your trashcans and birdfeeders to control critters such as raccoons, cats and squirrels. The spray form is especially helpful for spraying birdfeeders that squirrels love to climb and eat from. They won't want to come anywhere near it after you spray some Critter Ridder®! 100% Organic Aphid Control and Spraying (No Soaps or Pesticides) 1.28 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 20 exibições Organic Aphid Control, some people suggest you spray your houseplants and vegetables with a mix of soap, water and oil, but that doesn't seem like a particularly organic way of controlling aphids to me. Instead I spray the plants with water which knocks the aphids right off. I also use friendly pests to control my aphid infestation, generally I use ladybugs. They eat the little critters and don't harm the plants. This works on tomato plants, chilli plants, roses, pea's, potato, peaches, anything really. I really haven't seen a need for anything other than organic aphid control, a blast with water every day and they are gone within a week. Plus my food is still safe to eat.. + Informações |
