The O'Kanes was an American country music duo, composed of Jamie O'Hara and Kieran Kane. Active between 1986 and 1990, the duo recorded three albums for Columbia Records and charted seven singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles (now Hot Country Songs) charts, including the Number One "Can't Stop My Heart from Loving You". Kane charted seven singles of his own in the early 1980s, and O'Hara won a Grammy Award for co-writing "Grandpa (Tell Me 'Bout the Good Ol' Days)", a Number One hit for The Judds. Left to Right, John Joe Kelly on the Bodhran, Damien O'Kane in Tenor Banjo, and various other guitars and Gerard Thompson on Rhythm Guitar. Fantastic evening and quite a long set. Included an awesome Bodhran solo and Damien's remarkable dexterity when changing from one instrument to another. Most Fantastic Banjo playing I have ever heard. Check out O'Kanes album Summer Hill...an unusual melodic singing tone compliments his truly remarkable performance...well worth a listen.. + Informações

It's hard to understand why the O'Kanes are not more highly revered, with the resurgence of Bluegrass and the emergence of Americana as a viable musical genre. The O'Kanes were, after all, at the forefront of this movement in the eighties, when it was called New Traditionalist, and even collected a handful of hits. Individually, they have released several fine recordings since their breakup. + Informações
