I am an old fashioned girl. I still want music to be transporting and meaningful like it was for me as a child. I knew as a three-year-old, and announced to my family, that I would be a singer when I grew up. A girl on a mission, some things never change. My earliest memories are of playing records on my first little stereo with these giant headphones. I was barely eight when I was singing my lungs out to Pat Benatar not realizing everyone in the house could hear me. I'd wait till I thought they were asleep, and every night I got into trouble for being up singing past midnight. I wrote and recorded my first song, brilliantly entitled "Only You and Me", when I was thirteen. Looking back, it's actually a good little pop song. I am forever grateful to my eternally supportive voice teacher, Paul Adkins, for seeing to it that I got into the studio and made that recording. He even sang back-up. I have never looked back, and although I am flattered to be asked to write for some very well-known artists, I am happiest writing for myself. I hope there's a little girl out there tonight who is blasting my CD into her headphones way past her bedtime. A few highlights for me are: making this record with amazing musicians/engineers whose collective credits include: Sheryl Crow, David Bowie, Counting Crows, Fefe Dobson, Paul Simon, NY Dolls etc. My song, Watch Me Fly, being the end title cut for the feature film Gray Matters starring Heather Graham and Sissy Spacek. SONG: Start of Something New ARTIST: Troy and Gabriella VIDEO: High School Musical SPOILERS: For the First Movie Okay, so yes, I love High School Musical. It's a very cute movie, you have to admit that! Though it seems sort of weird and out of place with all the Austin and Shakespeare vids that have populated my account as of late. But oh well! I wanted to try something new (haha.). This vid is no where near perfect, though it was interesting to make! I took the video where the two actually sing the song in the movie and put clips of the rest of the movie in with it cutting between the two of them. The clips were hard to work with because in the beginning I wanted to cut out the stupid monitor completely. Sorry, for a night that monitor was the bane of my existance. Towards the end my problem was that the interaction between Troy and Gabriella was just too cute I had a hard time cutting some of it out! But oh well. That's all I'm going to say. I wasn't going to post this one (it was going to go in a folder with my other vids that I hang onto just in case I ever feel brave enough to post them) but I figure eh, why not?
