Blue Moon by Jane Froman 1952. "Blue Moon" is a classic popular song. It was written by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in 1934 . Jane Froman (November 10, 1907 April 22, 1980) was an American singer and actress. During her thirty-year career, Froman performed on stage, radio and television despite chronic injuries that she sustained from a 1943 plane crash. The 1952 film, With a Song in My Heart is based on her life. She was severely injured by an aircraft crash on February 22, 1943, when a USO plane carrying Froman and 38 others crashed into the Tagus River in Lisbon, Portugal. One of fifteen survivors, Froman sustained severe injuries: a cut below the left knee nearly severing her leg, multiple fractures of her right arm, and a compound fracture of her right leg that doctors threatened to amputate. Froman had given her seat to another passenger, Tamara Drasin, who was killed in the crash, an action which her biographer Ilene Stone said "bothered her her whole life."[1. + Informações

Blue Moon was the only Rodgers and Hart song to become a hit, that was not written for a show or movie; but Blue Moon has a remarkable history. The lyric that we are familiar with was the fourth... here's the story: Rodgers and Hart were under contract to MGM for about a month when they were given the task of writing songs for the "Hollywood Party". They were told every MGM star would be in it, Disney was making a technicolor cartoon to stick in the middle of it, and it was to be the big screwball comedy "to end all screwball comedies" to quote Richard Rodgers... "One of our ideas was to include a scene in which Jean Harlow is shown as an innocent young girl saying - or rather singing- her prayers. How the sequence fitted into the movie I haven't the foggiest notion, but the purpose was to express Jean's overwhelming ambition to become a movie star ('Oh Lord, if you're not busy up there,/I ask for help with a prayer/ So please don't give me the air...')." The scene was never shot, no sound checks were ever made, and in fact, only three of the dozen or so Rodgers and Hart songs written for the film made it to the screen. So MGM Song #225 is dated June 14, 1933, and was registered for copy-right as an unpublished work by MGM, JULY 10, 1933. The remarkable saga of "Prayer" epitomizes what Rodgers and Hart went througn when they were under contract to Metro. This is definitely a premature upload...but, I was driven to post this tonight...I am very much an amateur photographer, but, I love it.. and with limited equipment I am very much limited..but, I chased the blue moon all week, and was very blessed by a huge full moon rising tonight...and, a few times when the moon was straight up in the sky..it had a bluish hint to it..More than likely, I will be redoing this little production, but, just had do this tonight..as I wonder if I will ever get to see another blue moon on New Year's Eve..the next will not be here for nineteen years... I just want to thank each of you who take your time to watch and comment...I have made some really wonderful freinds along the way here in the community. It is my prayer that each of you will be blessed with love and inspiration and desire to fulfill yours dream, and that we all find God's purpose for our lives...
