The album offers great fusion of jazz and world music, Vietnamese folk songs are combined with jazz sounds. It's a versatile album, offering songs of a meditative quiet nature, but also uptempo pop style songs. Nguyen Le is a well known jazz guitarist who has participated in many jazz-fusion-world music projects through the years. The same for Huong Thanh. She's a fantastic singer, her voice has many colours and she sings evry little detail flawlessly. Fragile Beauty is a greatly recorded and produced album. Highly recommended! Mr. ACT Siggi Loch hatte mich inspiriert. So dachte ich, wenn man mal nach München kommt, sollte man sich die örtliche Jazzszene ansehen. Gedacht - getan. War ein schöner Abend in der Unterfahrt. Das war die Kritk in der Süddeutschen Zeitung: Nguyên Lê und die Rock-Gründerzeit München - Freiheit ist ein dehnbarer Begriff. Sie kann auch darin bestehen, ziemlich stoned im Studio zu erscheinen und ein kryptisches Gitarrenriff auf LP-Seitenlänge zu dehnen, bis es wirklich niemand mehr vergisst, der die Scheibe einmal aufgelegt hat. So ging es Iron Butterfly, einer ansonsten weitgehend folgenlos gebliebenen Rock-Combo der Gründerjahre, anno 1968 mit 'In A Gadda Da Vida', einem Stück, das seitdem jeder Gitarrist irgendwann einmal geübt hat - und das selbst Nguyên Lê noch inspiriert. Natürlich sublimiert und komprimiert er es auf der Bühne der Unterfahrt, macht aus dem markanten Thema des Originals gerade noch eine Ahnung, mit der er variierend jongliert. Es geht ihm weniger um das Nachspielen eines Klassikers, als eher um Energie und die Klangassoziationen, die dahinter stecken und an die er andocken kann. Das aber gilt für das ganze 'Songs Of Freedom'-Programm, mit dem der französisch-vietnamesische Gitarrist derzeit auf Tournee ist. Freiheit bedeutet hier die Möglichkeit, an ein Rockpop-Repertoire der späten Sechziger und Siebziger anzuknüpfen, das noch aus der Zeit stammt, in der Musik so wirkte, als wäre sie mit jeder Faser ehrlich gemeint.
