Review by Jos Veestraeten; On her solo debut Ann Nesby co-wrote almost all songs, and the lyrical themes are mainly about the different aspects of relationships. The album is mainly produced by the successful duo of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on their Perspective label. I'm Here for You is a brilliant blend of gospel, R&B, dance and ballads. "In the Spirit" and "I'll Be Your Everything" are real gems and sound like the classics "I Believe," "I'm Going All the Way" or "The Pressure" from Sounds of Blackness. "Thrill Me" is another excellent up-tempo track. Traditional gospel songs include "Let the Rain Fall" and "Lord How I Need You," with the latter the first song she ever wrote. Nesby sounds emotive in the ballads "I'm Still Wearing Your Name," "Let Old Memories Be" and "I'll Do Anything for You." She is blessed with a gorgeous, emotive, powerful voice and this album shows that she certainly belongs to the category of divas like Aretha Franklin, Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight.. + Informações

Ann Nesby is an American R&B, gospel, and dance music singer and actress. She is the former lead singer of Sounds of Blackness; a songwriter with credits including hits sung by Patti Labelle and Gladys Knight; plus she co-starred in the 2003 musical romantic dramedy The Fighting Temptations with Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce Knowles. 1986, three young DJs began making music on a 4-track recorder in a Baltimore basement studio. Little did they know at the time that more than 15 years later they would be viewed as pioneers of American dance music. The original Basement Boys Production team was Jay Steinhour, Teddy Douglas, and Thommy Davis. Davis left to pursue other ventures in 1989, about the time DJ Spen joined the team. Along with musicians Irvin Madden (bass), Gary Hudgins (keyboard), Wayne Cooper (guitar), and Victor Williams (percussion), the Basement Boys have been responsible for some of clubland's biggest anthems. Following the success of their debut single, "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" on Jump Street Records, the Boys rose to commercial prominence producing Ultra Nate's debut album "Blue Notes In The Basement" for Warner Bros., as well as her 2nd album One Womans Insanity. Meanwhile, they were quickly becoming underground club faves with their singles "Searchin'" (under the guise 33 1/3 Queen on Nu Groove) and "Tonite" (recorded as Those Guys on MCA Records). In 1991, they reached Gold Record status as the production team behind Crystal Waters, with her global smash hit "Gypsy Woman", and in 1994 with "100% Pure Love", from her gold Mercury LP-Storyteller (her second album).
