"Désenchantée" (English : "Disenchanted") is a 1991 song recorded by the French singer-songwriter Mylène Farmer. First single from her third studio album L'Autre, it was released on March 18, 1991 and achieved a great success in France, topping the chart for more than two months. It was Farmer's most successful song and is generally considered as her signature song. The music video was produced by Requiem Publishing and Heathcliff SA and directed by Laurent Boutonnat who also wrote the screenplay. Shot for five days (from February 18 to 23, 1991) in Budapest, Hungary, with a budget of about 240000 euros, this video was one of the longest ones at the time (10:12) and used many extras : 119 children, many Hungarian actors such as Erika Francz Jánofné. There is another version shortened by four minutes. The video for the single features a riot in what appears to be a concentration camp or gulag facility where people and children are subject to forced labor and being treated abysmally by armed guards. The riot scenes are quite realistically shot and contain much violent action. The anthem-like song goes well with the visual background. According to the French magazine Instant-Mag, this music video has a fairly similar structure to that of "Tristana". It has a gloomy screenplay, an ambiguous end, allows various interpretations and deals with the theme of messianism. Farmer "symbolically embodies the spirit of freedom". "Sans contrefaçon" is a 1987 song recorded by the French artist Mylène Farmer. First single from her second studio album Ainsi soit je. The video, a Polydor production, was filmed by Laurent Boutonnat, about one month after the single's release. For the first time, Farmer participated in the writing of the screenplay, along with Boutonnat. This video was shoot for four days in Cherbourg, France. It was inspired by The Adventures of Pinocchio, a Carlo Collodi's novel for children and Le Petit Cirque by Dargaud. "Je t'aime mélancolie" is a 1991 song recorded by the French artist Mylène Farmer. Third single from her third studio album L'Autre, the song was released in December, 1991. Characterized by its gloomy lyrics and its music video shot on a boxing ring, it achieved success, becoming a top ten hit in France and Belgium. The song deals with melancholy and suicide. "Je t'aime mélancolie" is also the singer's ironic response to journalists who criticize her because of her image of sad singer and her great success. In this song, Farmer "acts as an observer of her own life", and "claims her love for melancholy, sadness and loneliness". In the song, Farmer demonstrates "the important role that takes the pain in life". In the couplets, the notes are "low, dark and jerky", suggesting "a submission to melancholy". However, the refrains are "lighter". The video was directed by Laurent Boutonnat who also wrote the screenplay. This Requiem Publishing and Heathcliff SA production cost about 75000 euros and was shot in Los Angeles for four days : two for the fight in the boxing ring, and the two others for the choreography. The sexy clothes that Farmer and her dancers wear - notably black garter belts - while they are on the boxing ring in the video were made by the French fashion designer Jean-Paul Gaultier.
