He is honored for his work promoting the welfare of the Tibetan people. An estimated 80-thousand Tibetans along with the Dalai Lama arrived in India in 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against Chinese rule. Mother Teresa became an Indian citizen in 1948 and lived in Kolkata City.
