Before it was a eleven season TV series, "M*A*S*H*" was originally a 1970 satirical dark comedy film directed by Robert Altman which was based on the novel MASH: A Novel About Three Army Doctors by Richard Hooker. The movie stars Donald Sutherland, Robert Duvall, Sally Kellerman and Gary Burghoff (who was the only actor to go onto the series). The first time I heard the "Suicide is Painless" song was when I started watching the movie. The song was the lyrical version of the instrumental TV theme which was used as the title and credits theme. Ever since then, "M*A*S*H*" has been my favorite TV show ever. It has great actors, compelling storylines and an excellent balance between humor and seriousness. Anyways, my favorite version of "Suicide is Painless" is the original vocal version from the movie. The lyrics was written by the director's forteen year old son Mike Altman. The lyrics really speak to me about war and captures the feel of the movie/TV series setting well.. + Informações

Their other music is very nice, but I have a special affection for this album. Maybe it could be described as a dark fable where two characters decide to make themselves seen by jumping off a bridge (if just seen as the surface of the story).
