This song is from the legendary "Ashes Are Burning" LP (1973), although the version I have uploaded, is the live one from the "Live at Carnegie Hall" album (1976). The band is still touring, with Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, and others, and is absolutely one of the best bands in history. It is my second favorite of all true Progressive rock bands, second only to the mighty YES. One of the more underrated bands of the early prog era was Renaissance, their bass player, John Camp, another Rickenbacker 4001 devotee. They were more on the lighter side of prog, sticking with symphonic and folk elements, their guitarist/songwriter, Michael Dunford, forsaking electric guitar (with the exception of a few songs where they are played by session guitarists, including this song, played by Rob Hendry). Camp rides the neck pickup for this tune, but I decided to take a few liberties and kick in the bridge pickup or both pickups during the more melodic passages. And yes, I did edit out the intro, but it's just 2 and a half minutes of Rob Hendry doing stereotypical Indian guitar noodling, plus, it would've put me over the 10 minute mark, and there's not even any bass present in that section. So it was unnecessary for this video. Anyway, if you love early prog (Yes, Crimson, ELP, Tull), give Renaissance a listen. (Especially the Prologue album where this song is on). + Informações

The Nashville Teens were one of a brace of British acts competing for attention in the booming days of the early British Invasion and its early purely English phenomenon, the British beat boom. They were distinguished from most of the others by scoring a memorable and serious hit, "Tobacco Road." This put them on the map internationally (even getting them into an American jukebox movie, Beach Ball, that also featured the Supremes) before they gradually faded away in popularity. The sextet first got together in Weybridge, Surrey, in 1962 with Art Sharp and Ray Phillips on vocals, John Hawken on piano, Pete Shannon on bass, Michael Dunford on guitar, and Roger Groom on drums. In those days, they played basic American rock & roll with perhaps a bit more abandon even then than their competition. Dunford exited along with Groom in 1963 to be replaced by John Allen and Barry Jenkins, respectively, and a seventh member, vocalist Terry Crow, joined during the group's extended stay in Hamburg, West Germany, in 1963. (Crow and Dunford later co-founded the Plebs, who recorded for Deram Records, and Dunford subsequently became a key member of the second lineup of Renaissance).
