this video was mostly shot over one great weekend in valmez (vala?ské mezi?í?í) and neighbouring town novy jicin in the czech republic in June 2001. the frames and mic christopher were there to play a rake of gigs initiated by jens uhl. the gigs went amazingly well and great friendships were formed that weekend with karol & the folks in the spacliek festival and the irglová family who hosted the bbq you see at the start of the video. everyone was so nice it was almost overwhelming. mic wrote the song 'wide eyed and lying' the week after in slovakia, partly inspired by the amazing hospitality of the people of valmez. when we were leaving valmez in the minibus mic was in floods of tears. he was so taken by how kind and open these people who has started out as strangers had been and felt that he hadn't given enough back to them in return. the connections between the Irish music scene and valmez endure really strongly to this day. jens is still arranging for Irish bands to head over every summer and the irglová connection shines on too with marketa forming the swell season with glen and coming to study in ireland. those first valmez days were really special. heyday was the theme tune to that trip. 2001 was one big long heyday - well the first ten and half months of it at an any rate. a few tiny scenes from the video were shot in prague in may 2001 but more of that trip later! on the sleeve of the heyday single release mic put 'vsetko je v poriadku' which is slovak for 'it's .... + Informações

this was recorded very late night in the irglova's backyard. the hospitality was amazing. day turned into night and beautiful homemade fruit alcohols were being passed around as well as the guitar. even though mic played loads of covers when himself and glen mucked about, this was one of the few he was playing in his own live set in 2001. an old disco classic given the mic twist.. + Informações

thanks to this really cool dude called brendy bell glen, mic, damien and lisa came to play a few gigs around prague in may 2001. it was a great adventure and everyone was giddy with excitement. mic and glen just couldn't stop playing. as we crossed charles bridge they picked a spot, pulled out the guitars and away they went. this is dylan's 'you ain't going nowhere' which mic and glen used to play together a lot. glen and marketa then recorded it for the 'i'm not there' soundtrack which was a lovely twist. + Informações

Mic Christopher performing "When We Caught the Moon" with Glen Hansard in the Lobby Bar, Cork in 2001. The Lobby was one of Mic's favourite venues to play and this was probably the best gig he played there. It was Mic's birthday and he shared the stage with his best friend, downing pints between songs and set against a backdrop of Mic's slideshow. So sad to think that this would be Mic's last birthday - he was a great guy and amazing performer. RIP Mic.. + Informações

'Troubadour' the Leargas tribute to Mic Christopher broadcast by RTE, Ireland in January 2003. One of the most moving programmes you will ever see on TV. "Mic Christopher (21 Sep 1969 - 29 Nov 2001) was an Irish singer-songwriter, best known for his posthumously-released debut album Skylarkin'. In 1990 Christopher formed the band, the Mary Janes with former Kila bass player and fellow busker, Karl Odlum, with Simon Goode on guitar and Steven Hogan on drums. In November 2001 after playing a gig in Groningen, Holland he apparently struck his head on some steps following a fall. He lapsed into a coma as a result of severe swelling to the brain. He never regained consciousness and died on 29 November 2001, aged 32. Since Mic Christopher's death, The Frames' frontman Glen Hansard has dedicated every one of their albums to him.
