"Louise" (Maurice Chevalier, 1929) 3.38 min. | 0 avaliação | 173333 exibições Chevalier's enormous charm and personal magnetism soon made the Frenchman a star with American audiences after his arrival in Hollywood. "Louise" was a show-stopping number from the 1929 film, "The Innocents of Paris"...Paramount's first musical. LOUISE (Words by Leo Robin Music by Richard A. Whiting) Wonderful! Oh, it's wonderful To be in love with you. Beautiful! You're so beautiful, You haunt me all day through. Every little breeze seems to whisper "Louise." Birds in the trees seem to twitter "Louise." Each little rose Tells me it knows I love you, love you. Every little beat that I feel in my heart, Seems to repeat, What I felt from the start, Each little sigh Tells me that I adore you, Louise. Just to see and hear you Brings joy I never knew. But to be so near you, Thrills me through and through. Anyone can see why I wanted your kiss, It had to be But the wonder is this: Can it be true, Someone like you Could love me, Louise? Every little breeze seems to whisper "Louise." Birds in the trees seem to twitter "Louise." Each little rose Tells me it knows I love you, love you. Every little beat that I feel in my heart, Seems to repeat, What I felt from the start, Each little sigh Tells me that I adore you, Louise. Just to see and hear you Brings joy I never knew. But to be so near you, Thrills me through and through. Anyone can see why I wanted your kiss, It had to be But the wonder is this: Can it be true, Someone like you Could love me, Louise?. + Informações |

Maurice Chevalier 4.15 min. | 4.4666667 avaliação | 13706 exibições Hollywood, CA (Hollywood Backstage) - Ah Madame and Monsieur, and you kids too. You're going to a very elegant dinner party, for a very elegant guy. He's that young man with a twinkle in his eyes and a sparkle in his smile, Mr. Maurice Chevalier. His sixty-sixth anniversary in showbiz was hosted by Ann Miller and millionaire Arthur Cameron. The party included guests Walt Disney, Conrad Hilton, Rory Calhoun, California Governor Edmund G. Brown, Los Angeles Mayor Sam Yorty, Juliette Prowse, Greer Garson, Gia Scala, Zsa Zsa Gabor, "singing star" Peggy Lee and Bette Davis. That's quite a party. He sang "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" in the motion picture "Gigi." Other songs Chavalier was known for include "Mimi" and "Every Little Breeze Seems to Whisper Louise." Maurice Chevalier -- a fabulous character and what a fabulous career. And where do you think it all started? This great performer who appeared began his career at age 12 singing on the streets of Paris. And it was the beautiful and romantic Paris of the Moulin Rouge, Maxine's and people like Renoir and Toulouse-Lautrec. The streets were crowded and Maurice sang rough and tumble street songs. By the time he was 20, he moved from outside to inside the cafes. And it wasn't too long before he was discovered by the great French star, Mistinguett. And from this point, came stardom. Chavalier made many movies in Hollywood starting in 1929, with one of the first sound pictures, "Innocence in Paris." By the late 1930's he was .... + Informações |

"Livin' in the Sunlight" (Maurice Chevalier, 1930) 2.92 min. | 0 avaliação | 103968 exibições Spongebob's popular version of this Al Sherman-Al Lewis ditty is set to Tiny Tim's campy 1960's retread rather than Maurice Chevalier's superb original, written by Al Sherman & Al Lewis for the 1930 Paramount musical, "The Big Pond" (from which also came Chevalier's "You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me"). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LIVIN' IN THE SUNLIGHT, LOVIN' IN THE MOONLIGHT I'm so happy! Happy-go-lucky me. I just go my way, living every day, I don't worry, worrying don't agree, Winter, Fall and Spring, I just smile and sing: Things that bother you never bother me, I think everything's fine! Livin' in the sunlight, lovin' in the moonlight, having a glorious time! Haven't got a lot, I don't need a lot, Coffee's only a dime, Living in the sunlight, loving in the moonlight, Having a marvelous time. Just take it from me, I'm just as free as any dove, I do what I like, just when I like, and how I love it! I don't give a whoot, give my cares the boot, All the world is in rhyme, Living in the sunlight, loving in the moonlight, Having a wonderful time! I go swimmin' with pretty women. and I find life is divine, Swimmin' in the sunlight, swimmin' in the moonlight--having a glorious time! When I'm stepping out with my runabout, How we step is a crime! Starting in the moonlight, ending in the sunlight, Having a marvelous time! I take what I like, get what I like once in a while, But if she says "no", I let her go and keep on smiling! I'm right here to stay, when I'm old and .... + Informações |

"Moonlight Saving Time" (Maurice Chevalier, 1931) 2.67 min. | 0 avaliação | 8877 exibições Between starring in Hollywood films in the early Thirties, Maurice Chevalier had ample time to record many of the era's most popular songs. Here's his take on Harry Richman & Irving Kahal hit tune: MOONLIGHT SAVING TIME Birdies fly with new ambition spring is in their song soon you'll yourself a wishin' days were not so long If my thought is not defined listen while I speak my mind: There ought to be a Moonlight Saving Time so I could love that girl of mine until the birdies wake and chime Good morning! There ought to be a law in clover time to keep that moon out overtime to keep each lover's lane in rhyme till dawning You'd better hurry up, hurry up, hurry up get busy today you'd better croon a tune, croon a tune to the man up in the moon and here's what I'd say: There ought a Moonlight Saving Time so I could love that girl of mine until the birdies wake and chime Good morning! There ought to be a moonlight saving time so I could love that girl of mine until the birdies wake and chime Good morning!. + Informações |

"You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me" (Maurice Chevalier) 2.63 min. | 0 avaliação | 23467 exibições Maurice Chevalier's 1930 introduction of the Fain-Kahal-Norman classic... "You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me" is a 1930 popular song. The credits list music and lyrics as written by Sammy Fain, Irving Kahal, and Pierre Norman. Since Fain was primarily a musicwriter and Kahal a lyricist, it may be assumed that the music was by Fain and lyrics were by Kahal, with Norman's contribution uncertain. The song was introduced in the movie The Big Pond (1930) by Maurice Chevalier. The song has been used in other movies, including Monkey Business (1931) where the Marx Brothers steal Chevalier's passport and sing this song to try to prove they are Chevalier. The song is a well-known standard, recorded by many artists, though Chevalier's and Frank Sinatra's versions are best known. YOU'VE BROUGHT A NEW KIND OF LOVE TO ME Sweet one, fairer than the flowers, Never will I meet one sweeter than you. Would you turn away or could you Really learn to care if I ever dare To say "I love you"? If the nightingales could sing like you They'd sing much sweeter than they do For you brought a new kind of love to me If the sandman brought me dreams of you I'd want to sleep my whole life through For you brought a new love to me I know that you're the queen, and I'm the slave And yet you will understand That underneath it all You're a maid and I am only a man I would work and slave the whole day through If I could hurry home to you For you brought a new kind of love to me.... + Informações |
