Massive Internal Complications- "I Sleep" 3.45 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 1834 exibições A demo (or possibly master, I really couldn't tell you) version of a track of theirs called, "I Sleep". This isn't meant to be a masterwork in terms of the video footage and editing, just really giving you something to keep your eyes busy while you listen to the song. I know many people are looking for more from this band so hopefully this helps satisfy the hunger a little bit. It was really just blind chance that got this material in my hands and I hope you enjoy.. + Informações |

Massive Internal Complications- "Strawberry Wine (Demo Ver.)" 4.15 min. | 4.9444447 avaliação | 7846 exibições PLEASE RATE AND COMMENT! So the story goes like this: I had written a review for the "Basketball Diaries" soundtrack on Amazon and in the review, I gave high marks to the track "Strawberry Wine" by Massive Internal Complications, stating that it was probably the single reason to own the disc. It's my favorite song in the movie and one that gets lots of play from me. Weeks later, I get a response to the review from someone claiming to be the main guy from the band and if I was kind enough to send him my address, he'd be so kind to send me something back. Sure enough, I oblige and the guy sends me an MIC demo disc with six tracks on it. I never heard from him again after that but I was always grateful for his generosity. At any rate, here is the demo version of "Strawberry Wine" which was on the disc, coupled to video footage I shot from my terrace. Hope you enjoy.. + Informações |

On the anniversary of national founding day of Soviet Union (December 30th), great empire of NRF (Neo Russia Federation) comes to life with its territory occupying 1/6 of earth's land surface and having 3rd largest population in the world after China and India. Mashkov revives Warsaw Pact under the cause of protecting the Eastern Europe's sovereignty from unjustifiable interventions of US and EU. Eastern Europe countries suffering from great changes permeating in with an introduction of capitalism accepts this treaty thinking that this may be a new opportunity. Some countries opposing the pact had no choice but to let in NRF's troops into their territory. During this time, power of military gets overwhelming and thus starts to look for something or someone to let out this uncontrollable power. Mashkov in search of targets to gush out this massive power to relieve ever worsening internal complications finally turns his attention to the Black Sea, strategically important area connecting Southeast Europe and Asia. Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangectasia - HHT Center of Excellence at UCLA 3.92 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 2398 exibições Ginger-haired and freckled, Cheyann Cooper looks like any active 11-year-old girl. She likes to fish with her dad, play sports at school, and, as the youngest girl in a blended family of five siblings, enjoys a close relationship with her mom. But Cheyann also endures daily nosebleeds so heavy that they drench her clothes in blood. They can last anywhere from a couple of minutes to an hour. Like her mother and older brother, she suffers from a genetic disorder called hereditary hemorrhagic telangectasia, or HHT. Frequently misdiagnosed, HHT affects 1 in 5000 people, and many people unknowingly pass the gene on to their children. "My uncle's cousin died from a brain hemorrhage. And that's how the family found out that we have HHT" explained Stacy Cooper, Cheyann's mother. "That's when we could finally put a name to it. I'm sure that's what my grandfather also died of. But at the time, they didn't know what it was." Due to this faulty gene, many of Cheyann's blood vessels connect abnormally. Her arterial blood surges directly into her veins without first squeezing through tiny capillaries, which normally reduce the high pressure of arterial blood flow. In Cheyann's older relatives who also have the disorder, fragile red dots called telangiectasias form on the face and fingertips, where they can rupture and spurt fountains of blood. Her own grandfather requires regular blood transfusions and iron supplements to combat the rapid blood loss, which can result in anemia .... + Informações |

Minimally Invasive Repair of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm 3.75 min. | 0 avaliação | 22 exibições A thoracic aortic aneurysm is a widening or bulging of part of the wall of the aorta. Without prompt treatment the patient is at risk of a massive internal hemorrhage and death. The traditional treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysm is surgery to replace the damaged portion of the aorta with a polyester graft. As an alternative to the conventional open surgical approach, an endovascular stent-graft repair offers a less invasive alternative for thoracic aneurysm remedy with less risk of complications, decreased blood loss, and a faster recovery. Rotator Cuff Repair Surgery - A New Approach to Rotator Cuff Repair 1.77 min. | 0 avaliação | 978 exibições www.TheShoulderCenter.com Rotator cuff repair has now evolved into a revolutionary approach to rotator cuff surgery. Many patients believe that arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is only possible for a few rotator cuff tears because they have been told previously that their rotator cuff tears were too large or complex to repair with the newer advanced techniques so an open surgery was required. Unfortunately, this misconception is widely accepted as the truth because advanced techniques that allow us to repair even the largest and most complex of rotator cuff tears are only available at a few highly specialized shoulder surgery centers around the world. Now more than ever, the shoulder specialist you choose to perform your shoulder surgery is probably the most important factor in determining your ultimate chance of success. Another trend recently in rotator cuff repairs is to use increasingly complex devices and patterns to perform repairs that have their own unique complications. Our approach to dealing with large, massive, and complex rotator cuff tears takes a very different approach that offers our patients the highest level of healing and success possible. Rather than focus on the myriad of devices designed to offer a way for the surgeon to perform repairs without tying knots, we focused only on recreating the patient's own anatomy in the most elegant and secure manner possible. This led us away from metal, plastic and other types of implants that might interfere with .... + Informações |

My laparoscopic appendectomy surgery. 7.83 min. | 4.745098 avaliação | 136461 exibições This video was taken my by surgeon on Monday, 11/03/2008. Basically, I felt massive amounts of pain in my abdomen on Sunday night while studying for midterms. Well, I went to class the next day, took my midterms, and bailed out and ditched class to head to my general practitioner. After he did some preliminary examinations, he told me I needed to hit the emergency room and get some other tests done right away. After all that, they concluded I had appendicitis. Surgery was required SAME DAY or I could have ruptured my appendix and died. Now I'm in recovery and doing better. The footage is pretty awesome though, right? UPDATE: I've been out of recovery for almost 2 months now and I'm back to 100%. Have some minor scarring on my abs but nothing too major. Thanks god all that's over! UPDATE 02/05/2010: I've been recovered for quite a while now! My how time has passed. There are virtually no scars where the incisions were made. I give my Surgeon an A+ for sure. Also, feel free to rate the video. Almost over 30k views and only 28 actual ratings. I'm a bit shocked!. + Informações |

6. Smallpox (I): 'The Speckled Monster' 47.12 min. | 0 avaliação | 2700 exibições Epidemics in Western Society Since 1600 (HIST 234) In the eighteenth century, smallpox succeeded plague as the most feared disease. The two maladies, however, are very different. While plague is a bacterial disease, smallpox is viral. Plague is spread by rats and fleas, smallpox is transmitted by contact and airborne inhalation. Unlike plague, smallpox can exist as an endemic as well as an epidemic disease. The dread of smallpox was a result of its agonizing and unpleasant symptoms, which, in the case of survival, often left victims permanently disfigured. Prior to the discovery and successful implementation of inoculation and vaccination regimes, a host of ineffective and often dangerous treatments were attempted, including bleeding, purging, and cauterization of affected areas. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Nuclear Receptors and the Epigenomic Regulation of Metabolism 68.35 min. | 4.5555553 avaliação | 3356 exibições Air date: Wednesday, May 04, 2011, 3:00:00 PM Timedisplayed is Eastern Time, Washington DC Local Category: Wednesday Afternoon Lectures Description: Nuclear receptors transduce environmental and metabolic signals into alterations in gene expression by recruiting coregulators that alter chromatin structure. The nuclear receptor PPARg is the target of antidiabetic thiazolidinedione (TZD) drugs, and a transcriptional regulator of lipid metabolism. The induction of PPARg is required for adipogenesis, and this is regulated by a coordination of hormonal, epigenomic, and transcriptional factors that define a novel early stage of adipognesis. In mature adipocytes, genomic binding of PPARg coordinates metabolic gene pathways that are conserved between rodents and humans. Rev-erbá is a nuclear heme receptor that functions as a component of a negative limb of the circadian clock. Heme binding to Rev-erbá stabilizes recruitment of a complex containing the corepressor NCoR and histone deacetylase 3 (HDAC3). In liver, circadian expression of Rev-erbá leads to its oscillating interaction with the genome, at a cistrome that is enriched near genes involved in lipid metabolism. This directs a circadian recruitment of NCoR and HDAC3 with a rhythm that is anti-phase to histone acetylation and recruitment of RNA polymerase II at these sites and at nearby genes. The hepatic rhythm of histone acetylation is abrogated by depletion of HDAC3, which also induces many of the lipid metabolic genes .... + Informações |

Osteoporosis: Bouncing babies to crumbling wrinklies (20 Oct 2011) 39.90 min. | 3.6666667 avaliação | 1429 exibições UCL Lunch Hour Lecture: Osteoporosis: Bouncing babies to crumbling wrinklies - the need to own our bones Professor Allen Goodship (UCL Institute of Orthopaedics and Musculoskeletal Science) The skeleton is key to our ability to undertake everyday movements and activities related to well-being and high quality independent living. The general perception of bone is that of a museum specimen -- a dry inert structure. This is far from correct; our skeleton is a dynamic and responsive organ. The material properties and structural architecture are conditioned by both genetics and our changing functional demands throughout life. The devastating degenerative conditions such as osteoporosis (in both women and men!) and associated fragility fractures represent a time bomb for society and healthcare requirements in our ageing population. Through an understanding of the pathobiology of bone and the skeleton we can develop strategies to mitigate the risk of these conditions and thus prolong an active and independent life in old age. This lecture marked World Osteoporosis Day on 20 Oct. + Informações |

Along the way, he was certified by both the NSCA and ACE, and helped set up seminars on High Intensity Training in the mid-1990s. His own training-induced injuries led to his unique approach, applying textbook biomechanics to conventional free-weight and machine instruction. He has presented this material in a manual, Moment Arm Exercise; in a series of videos on You Tube; at conferences for the NSCA, Club Industry, and most recently, Indy HIT (Bo Railey, Exercise Inc, Indianapolis) and HIT Resurgence (Luke Carlson, Discover Strength, Minneapolis); and as in-services for studio and gym staff. Bill's personal interest started with the muscle magazines of the 1970s, which led to Mike Mentzer and the High Intensity approach. He describes his training as "HIT influenced, not pure HIT", because of other resources and activities. In addition to the personal training, staff training, and presentations, Bill consults with individual trainees worldwide. Via video, Bill reviews the trainee's form on the equipment available to the trainee and provides an email or telephone consultation. Contact Bill at optimalexercise .... + Informações |
