The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) is the tenth spy film in the James Bond series, and the third to star Roger Moore as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It was directed by Lewis Gilbert and the screenplay was written by Christopher Wood and Richard Maibaum. The film takes its title from the tenth novel in Ian Fleming's James Bond series, though as Ian Fleming requested that only the title of the novel be used, the film does not contain any elements of the novel The Spy Who Loved Me. The storyline involves a reclusive megalomaniac named Stromberg who plans to destroy the world and create a new civilization under the sea. Bond teams up with a Russian agent Anya Amasova to stop Stromberg. The theme song "Nobody Does it Better" was composed by Marvin Hamlisch, written by Carole Bayer Sager, and performed by Carly Simon. It was the first theme song in the James Bond series to be titled differently than the name of the movie, although the title is in the lyric. While four weeks ago represented my departure, and the last three weeks represented my journey for self-rediscovery, this week represents my return home and the positive effects of that experience. The first thing I want to say is that I never picked up my beautiful guitar, throughout that entire journey, except to take it in and out of each room that I had slept in every evening. I think that I really didn't want to be alone and my guitar served as my "would be", tried and true, companion throughout. Great, I just realized that I had a make-believe friend when I was 30 years old. I'll just pretend that I didn't have conversations with it. ;0 But seriously, THAT journey was the BEST experience that I had EVER made for myself. Not that I'd encourage anyone to experience what I had scratched and scraped my way through. In fact, I wish for the opposite. I wish that no one would ever have to face such anguish and self despair. At that time in my life, everything was coming to a head. Thankfully, my instincts forced me to resolve my "issues". Those sacred days by myself allowed me to reflect upon who I was, who I wanted to be, and how I was going to become the person that I knew I should be. I'm still working on it. I'm pretty sure that I will continue to do so, for the rest of my life. THAT, is my purpose; the purpose that I had lost, and found.
