John the Baptist - John and Beverly Martyn cover 2.92 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 198 exibições This song is on Stormbringer!, John's third album, and first as a duet with his then wife, Beverly. Admittedly it is vastly better as a duet, but I love the flowing chord changes. This is played in an open C tuning, but not a typical open C. Basically it is a step down from open D, so CGCEGC, with a capo on 3. Equally, it sounds ideal in DADF#AD with a capo at 1. The original is, i think, half a step up from there, but i cannae sing that high!!. + Informações |

GIVE US A RING by John & Beverley Martyn 3.88 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 8058 exibições Add "&fmt=18" for the stereo version. Written by Paul Wheeler. Well now. What's the food like? Have you slept well? And do the bugs bite other people? And did the banker give you money? And I saw, for on the postcard, that you wrote it on a beach or on your pillow. Or on a book or something stiff. Give us a ring when you get back. Try to bring me something back. With the customs man, make sure you don't get caught. With the things that you bought. Jeffrey bought a cactus for the kitchen. And the rabbit's been complaining. And we sat out on the lawn. Well now. Have to go to catch the postman. Cause I'm going to the pictures. Lots of love. I bet you're brown.. + Informações |

Bless the Weather (+Beverley) by John Martyn - A Cover 6.93 min. | 0 avaliação | 1412 exibições Wee hours recording of a go by me at Bless the Weather with a 'loose take' on 'Beverley' as a 'lead in'. The latter is a work in progress, and JM played this usually adjacent to BTWeather-either ahead or after. Here I just tried for the gist (Beverley) using C minor scale aiming more or less at that characteristic 'motif'. [JM guitar nuttas: tuning is one tone down from dadgad, so in cgcfgc...hence the Cm scale. Main BTW part uses mainly Cm7, Fm (as I did it), so a i-iv tune, as per JMs original in dadgad that used Dm and Gm. Embellish and pull offs+ string flicks with left hand fingers all over the place-but esp 3rd string 2nd fret pulling off to open string repetitively on the Cm7 (the i chord) I used, so 0x3230 pulls off to 0x3030-and gives a Cm11 but no 5th after the pull off). The Fm (iv) chord is an inversion with root on open 3rd string and uses 0x3010 and sometimes 033010 that is a Fm add11. Used a Daphon piezo pickup for guitar (nice and cheap, clip-on & flat response but I like alot).] Merry Hogmany.. + Informações |
