La malédiction du Pharaon est un documentaire qui explique une histoire contemporaine née au début du XXe siècle. Certains membres de l'équipe d'archéologues ayant exhumé la momie du Pharaon Toutânkhamon, seraient morts d'une cause surnaturelle suite à une malédiction du souverain défunt. En 1922 en Égypte, l'archéologue américain Danny Freemont, ainsi que Morgan Sinclair, professeur britannique opportuniste, se vouent une lutte sans merci en quête de la tablette d'émeraude, garantissant à son propriétaire un pouvoir absolu et éternel. Cette relique se trouverait dans la tombe de Toutânkhamon. L'histoire commence par la mort du canari de Howard Carter, le découvreur du tombeau, avalé par un cobra glissé dans sa cage quelques jours avant l'ouverture du tombeau. Le cobra étant " le serpent des Pharaons ", on y voit un mauvais présage. Puis, au mois de mars 1923, Lord Carnarvon tombe malade. Les médecins accusent une piqûre de moustique au visage égratignée en se rasant, qui se serait infectée, et qui doublée d'une pneumonie, aurait provoqué une septicémie mortelle. La presse, au courant de la mort curieuse du canari, voit en Lord Carnarvon la première victime d'une malédiction. Les journalistes arrivent en douze ans, à une liste de 27 personnes proches de l'expédition, mortes de causes suspectes pouvant-être mises en rapport avec la découverte du tombeau. I don't know who the first baritone was to take it up to an Ab and resolve on Db, nor do I know who had the idea to one-up that guy and add a high A natural (technically, it's a B double flat), but whoever they were, they set an important precedent for all Rigolettos to come.
