Majekodumni Fasheke, better known as Majek Fashek, is a Nigerian reggae musician, one of the most popular from nigeria. Album: Prisoner Of Conscience (1988) Born in Benin City, once the center of the ancient Sini kingdom, Fashek (born: Majekodunmi Fasheke) inherited his love of music from his mother, an Edo woman who raised him following the death of his father when he was eleven years old. A businesswoman, who supplied concrete to road contractors, she inspired him through her participation in traditional religious ceremonies where the Olokun rhythms were used to accompany worship of the river goddess. As a youngster, Fashek played maracas during the ceremonies. While he developed an early interest in the music of Jamaica, Fashek was equally drawn to the music of Indian cinema. Learning to play guitar while in secondary school, Fashek joined a band, Jah Stix, and began playing in clubs in the capitol city of Lagos. Majek Fashek on the David Letterman Show sometime in 1992. This was Majek's debut appearance on US national network television. The David Letterman band and some members of Majek Fashek's band performed this song together. At 3:13 into the video Majek repeats the chorus, while one of the 2 keyboarders (either Paul Shaffer or Majek Fashek's keyboarder) decided to end the song, thus creating a bit of confusion. One wonders why this had to be like that. Didn't Majek Fashek properly rehearse the song with the Letterman band? If yes, why then this amateurish and embarrassing mistake at 3:13? Or did Majek Fashek simply forget how the song was rehearsed with the Letterman band?
