Although a crude electric carriage was originally created in Scotland in the late 1830s, the first functional electric car in the United States was produced in 1891. For the next decade, the clean, quiet electric car was the king of the road. In 1899, an electric car broke the vehicular land speed record, and by 1900, there were more electric cars than any other kind in the US, accounting for 38% of the nations car market. Jay still uses his Bakers original Edison batteries. In 1898, the same year that gasoline-powered vehicles first appeared, automotive innovator Walter C. Baker started the Baker Motor Vehicle Company in Cleveland, Ohio to produce his electric cars. His company went on to manufacture more electric vehicles than any other company in history, despite the fact that it ceased production of them in 1916. Baker presented the first ever shaft-driven automobile at the first American auto show at Madison Square Garden, and is said to have sold his first electric car to Thomas Edison, who developed its batteries. This is a special commemorative video of the 50th anniversary of the end of the streetcar system in Ottawa Canada. Source and permission to use the video is from Raymond Langlois. It has some never-seen-before footage taken WAY back in the 1950's of Ottawa Streetcars in action. It was taken by Lucien Dauphinais, a Montreal Tramways streetcar operator, who came up to Ottawa on numerous occasions during the 1950's with his 8mm film movie camera. Some of the colour footage is a little fuzzy, but it is still useful as it shows the street scenes in the late 1950s in Ottawa. Includes Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter scenes . It also has scenes of the 1000 series streetcars in Ottawa, rare because only 4 of this type were made, and they were withdrawn from service some time before the end of the streetcar era in 1959. Regular venue Streetcar service in Ottawa came to on April 30, 1959. There was a final farewell parade of Ottawa streetcars held on May 2, 1959. Some Ottawa streetcars (most of which were made in Ottawa by the Ottawa Car Company) can be found in various museums in North America. Most Notably: Expo Rail in Delson, Quebec (South of Montreal), the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport Maine, and the Museum of Science and Technology in Ottawa. There are also the body of OTC streetcar 905, as well as the trucks and body of OTC streetcar 696 at the main OC Transpo Garage in Ottawa. ~~READ ME~~ Hello everyone! This was a requested video by a number of people and I finally was able to record it. I had to wait for my bangs to grow out a bit. Also, if you notice. The quality of the video is a lot better. I was going to upload this in 1080p, but the sound was off and the quality wasn't as great as it was in imovie. =/ Hopefully I will be able to figure it out soon. Great way to save money for those who often go to the hair dressers to get regular trims for their bangs! The pictures in the intro were taken after this video. The ending clip made my bangs look really thin because of the way I combed them. They are not that thin as you can see from the pictures in the intro. I have been sporting straight full bangs since I can remember. I believe Rainie Yang was the person who got me so into the style. I now think I look really weird without bangs, especially straight bangs. I definitely say you should try this style out! If you are scared they will not suit you, make sure the bangs are cut long enough for you to easy push them to the side. TIP: (i forgot to mention) I recommend cutting your bangs while they are dry because when your hair is wet it appears longer. You may end up cutting your bangs too short if they are wet.
