THE FABLED HARE (Maddy Prior) 9.92 min. | 4.943478 avaliação | 42529 exibições One of my all-time favorite songs by Maddy Prior, melding historical elements with mythological elements in a grim but triumphant tale of a witch who seeks to escape her murderous foes by transforming herself into a hare... I've also recently disabled the comments function on this clip. I hope this video continues to lend strength & support to all of those people out there whom embrace "the old ways". I dedicate this clip to all of you, with all my love & best wishes. However, I don't care to read anymore twisted & hateful remarks from a twisted minority of lunatic haters out there. Life is too short to spend another minute of my time on earth sorting through & deleting their utter nonsense... You may also see my channel archives for "Shadow Of The Hare", a completely different version of this very powerful musical piece... Note: I'm transcribing the lyrics exactly as they appear in the CD booklet... "THE FABLED HARE" I sall go until a hare / Wi sorrow and sick mickle care I sall goe in the devil's name / An while I come home again. I am ruled by the moon, I move under her mantle. I am the symbol of her moods, of rebirth cycle. I am companion to the gods, I can conceive while I'm pregnant. I call the dawn and spring in, I am the advent. I bring life from water in a cup that must be broken. I whisper to the bursting egg, I'm Aestre's token. Scent of dog, scent of man. Closer, closer, smell them coming. Hot breath, hot death. Closer, closer, hard the running. Tongues pant .... + Informações |

GUTTER GEESE (Maddy Prior & Ian Anderson) 3.83 min. | 4.9484534 avaliação | 28460 exibições This is one of my favorite songs from Maddy Prior's 1978 solo album, "Woman In The Wings". The project not only had the distinction of featuring members of Jethro Tull as studio musicians, it was also supervised by Tull frontman, Ian Anderson. Ian, along with Martin Barre, John Glascock, Barriemore Barlow & David Palmer were each featured on individual tracks, evidently not wishing to have Maddy's album sound as if Tull had assembled as her back-up band. Even Ian's wife, Shona, sang backing vocals on one song, and the entire production was engineered by long-time Tull recording tech wizard, Robin Black. Anyway, the piece in the spotlight here is "Gutter Geese", and it's dedicated to all of my YouTube Tull friends. lyrics: "GUTTER GEESE" Come, come be merry, be my friend Come, come let me see the best side of you Come, come be merry, be my friend Come, come let me be good friends to you Gay as a goose in the gutter Merry as mice in malt If we've got a ha'porth of liveliness What care we're below the salt Come, come be merry, be my friend Come, come let me see the best side of you Come, come be merry, be my friend Come, come let me be good friends to you Happy as a sandboy building Castles in the air Flag waving from the mast In a world without a care Come, come be merry, be my friend Come, come let me see the best side of you Come, come be merry, be my friend Come, come let me be good friends to you May your castles never crumble Dreams never end Run to meet the sunshine .... + Informações |

COLD FLAME (Maddy Prior & Martin Barre) 4.05 min. | 4.9375 avaliação | 13861 exibições Here it is at long last, just as I've been promising: the musical collaboration between Maddy Prior & legendary Jethro Tull guitarist, Martin Barre -- taken from the 1978 Maddy Prior solo album, "Woman In The Wings", produced by Ian Anderson, David Palmer & Robin Black. The CD is a definite treat for Prior & Tull fans alike. (And for those of you who might not have stumbled across it yet, I've also posted the song "Gutter Geese" elsewhere on my channel, which likewise features Maddy's distinctive lead vocals, along with a very fine little flute solo by Ian.) "COLD FLAME" Clouds crush the setting sun The sky is darkening grey Restless whispering The summer's blown away Bleak deserted arbours That speak of absent friends God forsaken wasteland In time all friendship ends Flame sears the sullen air Scorching my land Yonder swoops the black crow To the wind's command Your body is warm But your brain is cold Leaving me lonely Only emptiness to hold The spine of love is snapped There is nothing to be said But the hollow in my belly Sends an echo through my head I ache to see you To laugh with you again But the voice that once caressed me Is filled with disdain Like a hurricane you came And shook my innocence You woke me in every sense And I ran bemused and excited, Curious and delighted But I could not hold you, Like the wind you moved on I stood rooted like a fool Waiting for the sun The spine of love is snapped There is nothing to be said But the hollow in my belly Sends an .... + Informações |

Maddy Prior - Loot 4.95 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 994 exibições What is this brilliant company Dressed in silks and satins gay They are draped in bales of linen That they found along the way. They ride in gilded carriages And they eat off china plates Finest shawls across their shoulders Weird and wonderful freight. There are generals and officers And every rank of men They are straggled, and have struggled On the road back home again. They are all weighed down with silver, They have booty rich and fine They're a motley mix of rabble How they shimmer, how they shine. Mostly they have got no rifles Nor no guns of any sort But laden with their spoils By their greed they are caught. For the Cossacks they have chased them They have harried them to death And the frost has bit their fingers Taking ears and nose and breath. One hundred thousand are returning All the men that now remain They are broken and defeated By the weary Russian plain. Ambition drove Napoleon to Moscow He thought that he would rule the world But even snow couldn't smother The noise of such a mighty fall The sound of great misfortune Will ring and echo down the years And bring him immortality As sure as any great victory.. + Informações |
