This film tells the story of the early history of the indepent Congo. The year is 1960. Congo is no different to the rest of Africa -seeking independence from colonial powers. In this case, the principal political figure is the charismatic Patrice Lumumba, seeking to liberate his country from the political and economic clutches of Belgium.
