I have to admit that even thought I love the album, the songs on it are all pretty similar; that's not necessarily a negative thing, since the album focuses mainly on the texts and the songwriting which are great. On Saturday July 31st, 2010 in Omaha, NE, several bands including Bright Eyes, Cursive, Desaparecidos (their first live performance since 2002), and Lullaby For The Working Class gathered together to fight for equality by playing a benefit show for the ACLU Nebraska. All proceeds from the concerts went to the ACLU Nebraska who prepared a law suit against the town of Fremont, Nebraska, the latest in a series of US towns that have decided to take immigration law into their own hands. ACLU Nebraska filed a lawsuit challenging the law which attempts to ban undocumented immigrants from renting, residing or being employed in the Nebraska town. ACLU Nebraska Executive Director Laurel Marsh says, "If this law goes into effect, it will cause discrimination and racial profiling against Latinos and others who appear to be foreign born, including US citizens. The ACLU Nebraska has no option but to turn to the courts to stop this un-American and unconstitutional ordinance before the law goes into effect. Not only do local ordinances such as this violate federal law, they are also completely out of step with American values of fairness and equality. We will be working with concerned citizens in Fremont who want to stop Arizona-like laws from getting on the books in their city. Through these efforts, the community groups and The ACLU were able to stop the implementing of this law. A residência aconteceu a partir de vivências dirigidas de contato-improvisação, composição coreográfica e improtango, pesquisa desenvolvida pela As2wrists desde então. Biografia Minna Tuovinen, nascida em Kuopio, no leste da Finlândia e Martin Heslop, Martin Heslop and Minna Tuovinen met while studying at the Laban Centre in London in the late 80's. For MInna it was clear she wanted to study abroad in a dynamic and cosmopolitan environment. She spent a year in London taking open classes with different teachers and meeting dancers all over the world. One of the main places she took classes was The Place. However it was the Laban's emphasis on creativity especially in improvisation and choreography that made her choose Laban Centre. Martin's route to Laban was very different. He was born in Middlesbrough north of England in a working class family. He left school when he was sixteen and ended up working as dental technician. He came to dance through youth theatre and community dance. Because of the english community dance system he actually got to work with some choreographers and dancers from top british dance companies such as DV8, Michael Clark, Phoenix Dance company.Time they spent at the Laban Centre was extremely important, especially working .... + Informações

In the colonies, the first slaves ("indentured servants") were white; the historian Barbara J. Fields writes about this. As white slaves became too expensive and disruptive, American slave owners began purchasing African slaves. Racism entered the Western consciousness (during the mid 1700's) as a way to reconcile the enslavement of poor blacks with the freedom of poor whites. This division continues to characterize US politics. This clip comes from a certain well known cable broadcasting station. The lullaby of Itsuki. I recorded the original melody and then an improvisation using the Kumoi Scale with some arpeggios and tremolo. This song is very sad and slow so i decided to, instead of showing a video of myself, make a slideshow with some images from Santiago, Pucón and Viña del Mar, Chile. I am playing an Esteve Classical guitar, and this was recorded with a Samson condenser conected into my computer. Every region of Japan, perhaps every village, has its own komoriuta, and many of these have become part of the national cultural heritage. Itsuki no komoriuta, the lullaby of Itsuki, is perhaps the most famous of all, and its haunting melody has inspired even Western composers to write arrangements. But when we look at the text of this, and many other komoriuta, we don't find the soothing words we would expect in a lullaby. It is about people waiting for the festival of bon when they will, like everybody else in Japan, have a holiday to return to the villages where they were born to commemorate their dead ancestors.
