In return for permission to use some of Longwave's songs in LCRS--our upcoming web serial--we were asked by the band to do a video for their most recent album, entitled "Secrets are Sinister." We threw out several concepts for various tracks, but eventually settled on "Satellites" at the label's request; after some discussion, Caleb came up with a concept, and we began preproduction. The parameters were as such: no budget, and no access to the band itself. In lieu of that, we grabbed as many Bellingham locals and LAB regulars as we could, hit the streets and--in the span of a day and a half--knocked the project out. Given its quirky indie flavor, early speculations about pimping the video in any "official" capacity have pretty much tucked to the wayside, but regardless: we're proud to present the work we did for it. dir. sold my FT950. fancied some hi band stuff. took some time to choose. vr5000 .. ar8600 ???? even considered the r8500 icom. in the end i decided to give the AR8600 a try. well i didnt buy it for longwave. in the manual it doesnt say much except .. its not guaranteed. and a review online had the same comment. ---- well heres my test. its not a special radio. just one bought from a local shop off the shelf. i think its great. and the hi bands??? fantastic. it stands up to my stringent tests from past experiences. airband vhf is very good. 200mhz is good. pmr uhf and even 850mhz where ive listened to our headphone fqy,s the audio is rounded and solid. no nasty edgy sharp sounding. AM bands are very pleasant to listen to. oh .. one thing i didnt like ... the bandscope. id rather a fast tune button.. + Informações

The Longwave is a longitudinal friction harp invented by Ela Lamblin with choreography by Leah Mann. It is played by stroking the long strings with rosin coated gloves. While this is not the first instrument to utilize the longitudinal mode of vibration (the cuica, and Ellen Fullman's long string instrument are two other examples), Ela innovated the use of rosin gloves, of wooden tuning blocks, and was the first to arrange strings in a harp-like fashion.
