This is a Halloween video trick I did for my Nature of Math class at Biola University, October 28, 2009. It was another experiment in video editing and mixing video with live action. All this attention was quite a surprise - I mainly posted the video for the students who weren't in class that day, and so my students could pass it on to a few friends. I've read a bunch of comments, and I have a few general responses: Math: No, I wasn't actually trying to teach anything with the video - it was just for fun. This was the last 5 minutes of a 75 minute class - I actually taught real math for the first 70 minutes. And yes, I love teaching this class, and I try to keep it lively by doing little fun things like this once in a while. Software/Camera: I used Pinnacle Studio Ultimate, version 12.1 - the "picture-in-picture" feature for the special effects. I filmed it with a simple Panasonic PV-GS35 MiniDV camcorder. Idea/Time: I did this last semester as an April Fool's joke. New class, new year, I decided to try it again, with a few more twists. It took me about 45 minutes to film the video, maybe 2 hours to edit and refine it, then I practiced the interaction with the video a couple times. From his 1980 album "Journey To The One" Sanders was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, under the name Farrell Sanders. He began his professional career playing tenor saxophone in Oakland, California. Ornette Coleman once described him as "probably the best tenor player in the world." Emerging from John Coltrane's groups of the mid-60s Sanders is known for his overblowing, harmonic, and multiphonic techniques on the saxophone, as well as his use of "sheets of sound." Albert Ayler famously said "Trane was the Father, Pharoah was the Son, I was the Holy Ghost." Sanders moved to New York City in 1961 after playing with rhythm and blues bands. He received his nickname "Pharoah" from Sun Ra, with whom Sanders performed. He came to prominence playing with John Coltrane's band starting in 1965, as Coltrane began adopting the avant-garde jazz of Albert Ayler, Ra and Cecil Taylor. Sanders first performed on Coltrane's Ascension (recorded in June 1965), then famously on their dual-tenor recording Meditations (recorded in November 1965). After this Sanders joined Coltrane's final quintet, usually performing very lengthy, dissonant solos. Coltrane's later style was strongly influenced by Sanders. After Coltrane.. Good quality video recorded from Top Of The Pops 1983. Paul Antony Young (born 17 January 1956) is an English pop musician. In the late 1970s he joined Streetband, who had one Top 20 hit in the UK, with the humorous, novelty track "Toast". The single peaked at number 18 in November 1978. In December 1979 the Streetband broke up and Young formed the Q-Tips, who established their name by playing live but had no hits in the UK, although their single "Letter Song" did enjoy minor success in mainland Europe. The Q-Tips disbanded in 1982, and Young was signed by CBS Records as a solo performer. By way of tying up some loose contractual ends, Paul Young embarked on the 'Last Chance To See The Best Live Band In The World Tour' throughout March and April of '82. Hi all ;) this is a little known but great grooving riffer of a track, by the legendary guitarist Jim Martin of Faith No More fame. Jim released his debut album "Milk & Blood" in 1996, and this track "Disco Dust" was track number one on the album. I love this track, it's just the way it grooves along, great riffs etc. It features the mighty James Hetfield of a small not very famous (yeah right) metal band named Metallica, his yeah-yeah-ahhhs are unmistakable :-D Also, another Metalli fact, track ten of Jim's album entitled "Fatso's World" featured Jason Newsted of Metallica fame on bass too. Anyway, hope you enjoy this as much as I do, and I decided to put it on here as I couldn't seem to find it when I searched previously. Soooo here it is. From 1992 Album: "Return Of The Funky Man"..... Lord Finesse (February 23, 1970) is a Hip hop artist and producer, hailing from The Bronx, New York, best known as the leader of the DITC rap crew. In 1989, Finesse and his former partner DJ Mike Smooth signed to Wild Pitch Records, home to other popular Hip Hop artists like Gang Starr, Main Source, Chill Rob G, Percee P and OC. In 1990, the duo released their debut album Funky Technician.[1] The album featured production from future star beat-makers DJ Premier, Diamond D and Showbiz. Soon after, Finesse formed the popular New York underground crew DITC, an acronym for 'Diggin In The Crates', together with Showbiz & AG and Diamond D. Future members included Fat Joe, OC, Buckwild and the late Big L. Finesse returned as a solo artist in late 1991 with his second effort, Return of the Funky Man. The album featured guest appearances from Percee P and AG. The album's title track peaked at #13 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. Return of the Funky Man also included a couple of songs that were produced by Finesse himself, and this would be the start of a career as a much respected hip-hop producer. In 1994 Finesse made a production appearance on The Notorious BIG's classic debut Ready to Die, on the track Suicidal Thoughts.
