Nato a Dayton (Ohio) nel 1949, Skip McDonald, al secolo Bernard Alexander, può vantare una carriera davvero densa di esperienze: membro fondatore dei seminali Tackhead (con Doug Winbish, Keith Leblanc e Adrian Sherwood), conta oltre vent'anni nella On-U Sound di Adrian Sherwood con cui ha collaborato in quasi tutti i progetti della label, tra cui Junior Delgado, Bim Sherman, Mark Stewart & The Maffia, Dub Syndicate e African Head Charge. Ma nel suo curriculum compaiono anche collaborazioni con Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaata, Lee "Scratch" Perry, James Brown, Robert Plant, Sinead O'Connor, a testimonianza di un percorso artistico ricco e variegato.
