Eostre Equinox: The March Equinox (March 20th) marks the beginning of Spring in the northern hemisphere and fall (Autumn) in the southern hemisphere. The word "Equinox" derives from the Latin words meaning "equal night" and refers to the time when the sun crosses the equator. At such times, day and night are everywhere of nearly equal length everywhere in the world. Marking the end of Winter and the first day of Spring. The Earth is becoming green and birds are beginning to sing, Trees are in bud, foals and calves are being born, and early summer crops are sprouting or ready to be planted... Some Pagans now call this first day of Spring, this Vernal Equinox, Ostara. It is a day for all to celebrate longer daylight hours, returning warmth and the start of planting.
