This is a rare performance of Lena Horne from an MGM movie from the 1940's. The gorgeous, great Lena Horne gives a wonderful performance, but also notice the other black women in this part. They were too actresses aspiring to make it, but was reduced to bit parts and maid parts or dancing parts, because Hollywood wasn't ready to make black women glamour girls, of course Lena Horne was the only one Hollywood was willing to let be a star, but only in a limited way. Some of the other black actresses in this scene is the beautiful Suzette Harbin who is flirting with another woman's man, she appeared in many films, and was a fine actress. The other woman who jumped on Suzette was, Marie Bryant, a dance director in Hollywood, dancer, and singer, and good friend of Lena's, Vivian Dandridge, sister of Dorothy Dandridge is in this scene, and a dancer by the name of Cleo Herndon. These women were the black glamour girls of Hollywood, that we shouldn't forget. They helped in making the movies Lena Horne starred in successful with their dancing and beauty as well, and we need to remember them too. The women in this part were also in Cabin In The Sky and Stormy Weather, and most of Lena's movies. They helped in opening the doors as well.. + Informações
