Ukifune, ("A floating boat") is based on the story of the Genji family. Ukifune, a beautiful lady of Uji (near Kyoto) is loved by Captain Kaoru, but she is unfaithful to him. After many disillusionments, she attempts suicide, fails, and spends the rest of her life in a nunnery. The music is designed for the shamisen, koto and voice. After surviving Cervical Cancer in 2008, this song spoke to me so clearly that I had to put pictures with it to share my feelings of occasional sadness but more so the joy that comes from "holding on" because I know that peace and joy is there. It's waiting for you and for me! In Dec 2010 I learned that my cancer has returned. They doctors tell me that I have at the most 24 month before it takes my life. THEY ARE WRONG! Some days I feel like I'm climbing a mountain that is impossible but then I look into they eyes of my two young children and see that faith and hope is what I need to overcome this again. Update Oct 2011 - My cancer is gone! It is truly a miracle! It is through faith, hope, family and friends that I have made it through 9 months of Chemo.
