This is my Hi-Fi setup. I'm a college student so naturally I had a limited budget in building my system. The amp is a yaqin Mc-10l phono pre-amp is also Yaqin (Ms-22B) I play mostly analog vinyl records via my Pro-Ject Debut III turntable. All interconnects are Monster Ultra 600 series cables. Speaker wire and terminals are monster as well. Speakers are Allison Acoustic's AL110 bookshelf speakers. The system sits on a custom build stand made from Ikea "Lack" side tables. Soup to nuts the system cost around around $1000.00. Based on what i've heard, I feel this set up competes with system that cost 3 times that amount! Thanks for watching!. + Informações

I remember the first time I went to IKEA, it must have been around 1993 or 4 when my family moved to Orange County, California. We bought many furniture and household appliances that day. When we came home, I was confused as to if we were still at IKEA or if our house has become an IKEA showroom. The spectacle of multiplicity of choices and almost readily available commodity within reach was unbelievable. Almost twenty years later, it has become something of an everyday experience for me, as I bought and threw away many of their products, but the initial shock remained within. What is especially jarring about IKEA, as compared to other big box retailers like WalMart or Home Depot, is that the products, once purchased, soon become an integral part of the daily life and constructs the living space until we move or decide to purchase another one. When I began to live in New York City, I would see an IKEA furniture thrown away in the streets at least once in a day, a slightly worn out LACK or broken set of MALM on the street. Since the products are made with maximum efficiency on production and transportation, not on sustainable utilization, these products are very affordable to purchase but most difficult to throw away. Then I began to realize the concept of 'NOISE' and its relation to public/private space can be understood through IKEA products. Here I am testing the resistance of my turn table set up to shaking. I slowly increased the magnitude until it skipped. The turn table is a Pioneer PL-518 with extra mass added to the tone arm above the pivot point. Cartridge is a Shure M97xE with the stabilizer brush in the down position and tracking at 2g. The rack is a custom built rack based on the Flexy rack and the isolation for the table is a 1" thick slab of marble resting on cut in half racket balls.
