A veteran vaudeville performer from Kentucky, wavy-haired Sam Ash was fairly busy in Broadway musicals of the 1910s and 1920s, including the hugely successful Katrinka (1915), Some Party (1922; with Jed Prouty and De Wolf Hopper), and The Passing Show of 1922. Protest count: 13 Temperature: -18 degrees Celsius As frigid as the temperature was this protest, it was nowhere near as cold in comparison to February 2008 (where it was nearly -50). We received many supportive honks, Bk Jr. was great at handing out flyers (each flyers was handed out accompanied by a Hershey's Kiss in the spirit of Valentine's Day), and no police presence. We had nearly all of our regular raiders. Pacfist had brought a bouquet of carnations in hopes that the Scientologists would be our valentines, but alas, we were shot down. We'd gathered as a group outside the org with our bouquet, kneeling down while shouting exclamations of our love through the door, as well as wishes of "HAPPY ANONIVERSARY, BABY!" We were ignored by those inside. That's cold, scilons. Just cold. Heartbroken, we returned to our protest site just around the corner. A dog was peaking out of the driver's seat window right at us, caught in this video (though rather blurry). Two passerbys were commenting on how much they loved the movie V for Vendetta who cheered us on not knowing what we were supporting, haha! Sometime about half-way through our protest, we noticed a grey-haired dude hanging out at the corner on the opposite street: Richard the Motorboat, the head of the Winnipeg org. Pacifist, grabbing his bouquet again, shouted to him while holding it outward, simultaneously blowing a kiss.
