Sob a designação de "O Perianto", ele descrevia minuciosamente os efeitos eletro-luminescentes do que muitos acreditam ser a aura humana. Ele não pôde seguir adiante em sua pesquisa, parando-a em 1912, por questões doutrinárias da Igreja Católica já que a técnica poderia revelar o que ele chamava de perianto, termo semelhante ao perispírito, usado pelos espíritas. Em 1939, a técnica viria a ser conhecida, na Rússia, sob a denominação de "efeito Kirlian", em homenagem a Semyon Davidovich Kirlian, re-descobridor da mesma. O método consiste em fotografar um objeto com uma chapa fotográfica, submetida a campos elétricos de alta-voltagem e alta-freqüência, porém baixa intensidade de corrente. O resultado é o aparecimento de uma aura, ou melhor, um "halo luminoso" em torno dos objetos, seja ele qual for, independente de ser orgânico ou inorgânico. A short, work-in-progress video using Electromagnetic Discharge Videography (Kirlian Photography). I plan on developing this into a longer piece with original theremin music. I think theremin music is particularly appropriate for the project because it is an instrument that uses fluctuations in an electromagnetic field to create sound energy. Original promotional music video for "Blue Room" by Kirlian Camera (1983). Kirlian Camera are the historical pioneers of the Italian electronic scene. Active since 1977, the band released its self-titled debut in 1981. Their early recordings are a mix of synth pop and new wave/dance. Toward the end of the 1980s, the group's sound began to grow progressively darker. At the time "Blue Room" came out, the group consisted of Simona Buja on vocals, and founding member Angelo Bergamini on just about everything else. The track was first released in 1985 by ZYX/Italian Records, on both 7" and 12" vinyl. I restored this video from two VHS source copies. The quality improves dramatically at 0:32 and remains from there on out. The irritating title overlay appears from 0:36 to 1:16.
