Musician and State Senator Kina Shoukichi and his band Champloose absolutely rocked as the last act at a fabulously succesful Tokyo Earthday 2009 - over 200000 came to Tokyo's Yoyogi Park over the weekend and they did not leave dissapointed. Hana meaning Flower was written by Shokichi Kina, an Okinawan musician with prayer for peace. It was covered by many singers such as Shizuru Ohtaka, Satoko Ishimine, Rimi Natsukawa and Kaori Futenma, etc. Satoko's version was employed as the theme song of "Himeyuri-no Tou"(Yasuko Sawaguchi as the main actress), which showed a cruel war at Okinawa island in World War II. Satoko sang Hana in Kohaku-utagassen (Japanese famous song festival) on Dec.31, 1995. This song was included in a new best CD named "Satoko Ishimine Golden Best" (EMI-MJ: B004RRVAQ0). My Trip to Okinawa in June was a huge eye opener, and I am still convinced that someday Okinawa will once again be my home. After returning I got a bit wrapped up in everyday life, and I put the sanshin down for a wihile. I didnt practice for about 2 months .
