Thia classic song is one of the most memorable and used songs in the Castlevania franchise. Simon's Quest, the pioneer Metroidvania game, was the first time I heard the song. The Japanese version, Dracula II: Noroi no Fuuin, was released on the Famicom Disk System (or FDS for short). This video has both the cartridge and disk system versions of the track. The FDS was a peripheral for the Family Computer ("Famicom") console, used proprietary floppy disks (called "disk cards") and also included additional sound hardware featuring primitive FM synthesis capabilities. If anything stands out the most about Castlevania II: Simon's Quest for me, it's the dark endings accompanied by this solemn song! When I first beat the game, I naturally got the bad ending the first time. Thanks to this song and learning of my fate, I quickly lost the proud feeling that I got from defeating Dracula. I actually felt sad because I failed... back then I thought all game endings were supposed to be happy. Boy was I wrong! I played through the game a few more times and finally got the average ending after the forth playthrough. I eventually got the best ending.. + Informações

Castlevania II for the NES was the first game of the series that I completed. It didn't help that it was easy and that there were only three bosses, two of which you could just walk pass. But it did have great music. The theme for the final castle is one of my favorites. It's so forboding and makes the trek through the eerily vacant castle that more sinister.. + Informações

Contra Force suffered from slowdowns almost all the time, but was really good otherwise with four different characters to choose from at any point of the game, each one with different set of weapons. This is a rock collaboration arrangement by Wild_Cat and myself together, covering the mansion theme track from the soundtrack of Castlevania II : Simon's Quest (NES), and named "Dwelling of Doom". It was originally written by Kenichi Matsubara and Satoe Terashima for Konami. This song was submitted to the special shredding competition of the Dwelling of Duels named "Tornado of Solos" in October/November 2011, where it ranked 2nd place, out of a total of 3 entries. Wild_Cat is the bassist for the famous French video game music cover band, "GrosPixels" (grospixels.com He performed the bass all along the song, and even went beyond his own technical limits to play a bass solo in the middle of the song. On my part, I tried to go beyond mine to pull off the lead guitars, but I failed in bringing a perfectly clean performance in time for the contest. So this is a WIP version, I want to record new, better leads, and add some cool stuff to the song, like lead harmonies.
