This is my tribute to Kelly Groucutt, A wonderful man and musician. As all ELO fans know, he was the driving beat behind the ELO sound complimented by his wonderful harmonies. This song is called "One summer Dream" from the album "face the music" it was the first album Kelly played on with ELO. Despite all that went on after ELO split, it will be ELO that every fan will remember him for. He was a wonderful musician in his own right and became the leader of the new ELO. Kelly kept the ELO light shining when everybody else had forgotten about them. He carried on entertaining the true ELO fans who wanted the ELO light to never end..including me. This is what I hope everyone will regard as a fitting tribute to Kelly Groucutt, the former bass player with ELO/ELO Part II/The Orchestra who died on Thursday 19th February 2009 aged 63. I've used 'The Fox' from the album Moment Of Truth, one of the songs that really showed off Kelly's immense vocal talents. I'm still shocked, stunned and saddened. I can't really believe this has happened. What a cruel world. Kelly's energy on stage was totally intoxicating and as a person you couldn't have wished to meet a nicer bloke. Nothing was too much trouble, whether it be to sign autographs, pose for a photograph or just have a chat before/after a gig. I have fond memories of being able to meet him in York in 2006 and then shaking his hand as he came off stage at The Doncaster Dome in October 2008 after another great performance. Kelly truly respected the fans and always had time for them, wherever he was. Music has lost a true legend, a showman and a truly great man. Deepest condolences to Kelly's family and friends. You'll be truly missed. RIP Kelly. Taken from my 1998 CD "Andy's Diner". I offer this short video of Everlastin' Love as a small tribute to the late and great Kelly. He will, I guess be remembered as one of the voices that made ELO sound the way they did. But for me he stepped up to the plate and sang this song for me when I was really struggling to find the right voice for it. Immediately, he made the song his own, to a point where it is difficult to imagine anyone else now singing it. Thanks Kelly, you were a true Wild West Hero!. + Informações
