"Kalevala" is the national epic of Finland, a collection of old finnish myths and folklore. The stories were told, and the book is written, in the shape of a long, long song. This melody, simply called "Kalevala", is supposedly the melody you're supposed to use when reciting the songs of Kalevala. The chanting in the last verse is a small part of the book, telling about Old Väinämöinen and how he spent his days playing and singing. Arrangement, instrumental and vocals by me. Oh god, this is a movie we made for Mothertongue (Finnish as school subject) lessons when we were on our 9th grade! It was quite fun to make, especially the editing & shooting! But deciding which lines we use was complete nightmare as we had to use 40 year old Kalevala book with lots and lots of lines and dialogue. But in the end I guess we did kinda well!
